I know he hit some big shots 2 years ago in the District Final against Grant County , when he was just a freshman.

I saw Devon Rowan of N.O. play at Trinity last Friday. He is a big, strong kid and impressed me. I assume he is a senior. Is he getting any college looks?

Devon's a junior, and finished 2nd in this year's 8th region POY balloting. I think he's been getting college looks for quite a while - he was a sub on the North varsity as an 8th grader, the #3 center as a freshman (got lots of minutes), and began starting last year as a sophomore.

 

I think you'll see Devon's game blossom even more next year, as the Mustangs learn how to become really good in David Henley's system and can get Rowan the ball more easily in scoring position. He's almost unstoppable if he gets the ball on the low blocks. Teams have simply been putting up a "picket fence" around him and daring the rest of the North team to beat them...

Disappointed to not have Andrew Sampson on this list. He carried SK early, when Gray and Chambers were both out with injuries. Not sure I'd take anyone off- just add the lefty from SK.

I agree 100%. He has continuously showed composure, rebounding, scoring and working hard. He has more points scored this year than probably half those boys on the list.

With North losing some seniors I dont know if they can ever get him the ball where they need to, most of their offense does not involve him and that is unfortunate, in AAU ball where teams just play he is nearly unstoppable. This was a very disappointing year so far for North unless they can some way beat South tonight which I dont see happening. Devon should have been player of the year this season and it just did not happen because of not getting the ball, and guards not handling pressure. POY well deserved by Logan from Spencer

Let me first of all say I am biased. I was very disappointed that Justin Webb did not make this team. He played against many of the big kids on this list and held his own. I realize that record may play a role in the voting which is unfortunate because Justin deserved a spot on this team.

Amen bballcoach!! I was wondering the same thing. I wish the voting wasn't so biased towards the elite TEAMS and recognized the players as intended. They won't find a player who works harder against guys who are much bigger than Justin. Congrats to a fine young man !!
