Augusta to honor Coach Robin Kelsch

Featured Replies

Tomorrow night is Senior Night at Augusta where they'll be honoring Colton Fraysure, Stephen Gibbs and Jacob Kelsch who will be playing their last home game. They will also be honoring Coach Robin Kelsch who will be resigning at the end of this season, his 13th at Augusta. He has the most wins in school history and a list of other accomplishments as the Panther head coach. It will certainly be different not seeing him on the Augusta sideline The Panthers will face Williamstown. The jv game starts at 6pm with Senior Night activities taking place between games. The varsity game is scheduled to start at 7:30 pm and Robin will be honored at halftime of the varsity game. Hope to see a lot of people there. For those who can't make it you can catch all the action on Augusta's webcast. For more information go to http://www.augustaschools.net

Can't make it, but wish Big Rob nothing but the best. Classy guy & great coach! He also is leaving Augusta in the able hands of Jason Hinson.

I am not certain that there is a figure in a school system that has meant more than Rob has to the Augusta school system and community. Kids come and go every year, but its the ones that come back and hang out with you after leaving that let you know what kind of impact that an individual has had on that kids life. This is what happens in Augusta and with Robin Kelsch. This guy has always managed to get things done and done it the right way as a head coach. I have seen him bring out everything there is in a player and hug a kid when they have deserved it and yes chew on you when you deserve it. It has always been about the kids first while under the leadership of Rob, and through many conversations with this man over the years when a win has come, the players did it and he took absolutely zero credit and when the losses came, then Rob stepped up and said this one is on me. The mark of an outstanding leader, a man with a great basketball mind, and a man that had ownership and leadership in the buffet line as well. Truly a remarkable person, a blessing to Augusta schools and their student/athletes over the years, and a man that will be missed by everyone in the region. Rob, thank you for your time of service to the youth over the years, enjoy yourself and your next challenge, and don't be a stranger to the basketball circle in this 10th region.

Just a note to anyone that may be attending tonight's game, all festivities will take place between games now. First the seniors will be honored followed by the honoring of Coach Kelsch.

Why is he leaving? Coach Hinson will be a great job IMO.

Congratulations to Robin Kelsch on a great run at Augusta!

Robin has always had the best interests of his kids and Augusta High School at heart.

I've always felt that he had things at the small river ciity school in proper prospective. He did the best he could to maximize the efforts and talents of the hands that he has been dealt, doing the best he can with what he has had to do it with.

He is certainly the first person I think of when thinking of Augusta and the Panthers, and he will be missed on the sidelines by all of us.

Best of luck in your future endeavors, and don't be a stranger!

Thanks for the memories!
