Hard to disagree with that one as far as the mountains go. Some others that could be lumped into that one are Corbin (initially VERY unhappy with Pietrowski in some of his early years following Deaton), and Shelby Valley (Rodney Rowe being given a very hard time despite building a solid foundation with lots of state tournament trips).

 

One thing that I will say, which I feel is especially true for smaller mountain communities, is that these teams have also seen their share of success, which may have spoiled fans somewhat. Also, I think most coaches would rather be in a situation where some care a tad too much rather than one where no one gives a flip. While it still doesn't justify the actions of the fans in question, the coaches took these jobs knowing that this is some of the burden that comes with taking a coaching position there (again, however, it still doesn't make it right).

I totally agree with this. And I also think 99% of the time the sended of such a letter is found out, and it makes things much, much harder on their child.

Grant County. LOL All of the complainers won't admit it though.

Simon Kenton fans are very tough on coaches. Danny Trame was run out of Simon after showing success. I also know that Jeff Marksberry was being raked over the coals in his early years before he had some success. I think that even today I hear things said that are unfair toward coach Steiner.

Coach Steiner plays to win and he plays what he believes is the best talent he has , regardless of what the parents think or try to suck up to him.

I know about the longevity of the coaches. I also know what I hear and read year after year. Just check out any CCH basketball game thread from the past few weeks. Then go back and look up threads from last year and the year before. That is what prompted me to start this thread. It seems there are constantly complaints about Listerman. Although I haven't heard as much this year, I would say the same is true for McQueary at Boone County. The man has a great record at Boone County and yet the fans are very quick to jump all over him at the first opportunity.

 

Maybe our fans complain but it seems to me that you forgot the fight at CovCath between a Beechwood parent and one of your coaches. Complaining is one thing, but trying to physically injury a coach is another.

I know this is the basketball thread but I remember being in the stands at Highlands during one of Coach Mueller's 15-0 seasons and hearing people complain about who should be playing and who should not. Even being nearly perfect you cant please everybody.

 

As far as for Boone County, it is a hard place to please the boys basketball fans. For the longest time there was the football teams success that made people want success everywhere else. I saw Coach Jay Mulcahy have some pretty good teams that people were never pleased because they were not going to the state finals like the football team, not to mention the success that Nell Fookes and the girls seem to enjoy each year, being the Boys coach at a school where football is king and has a good girls program has to be difficult to deal with. People never seem happy enough......

I agree and disagree. I think you should first go talk to the head coach, if your problem still exist then talk to the AD, then after that you can go talk to the principal.

LOL that is a good one. I think they are still complaining about that Gene Morrison guy coaching them. Does he still coach or was that the 80's?

Coaches at my son's school have a policy that they do not discuss the kid's in regards to playing time however if there are other issues they are concerned with they will talk. I am talking injury, son's attitude, etc

He's been head coach for about 10 years.

 

Listerman started at CCH in 1986 as an assistant to Coach Tieman.

From my understanding issues have been boiling at CCH for the past 5 years or more. It includes the departure of assistant coaches, those coaches expressing publicly everything that is wrong with the program and allowing some kids to publicly disrepect the head coach and nothing is ever done to correct the issue or discipline the student.
