Rowan played a great game and GRC probably had their worst game of the season. Looked very tired and lackadaisal. Good to see Zollo seems to be healthy.

I agree, I thought the last Montgomery Co game was our worst, this tops it.

From the RC side of things, they also played a game on Monday night, so they had two games in 24 hours. I understand Robbie was under the weather, but that does not take away from the RC effort. Most people in the gym agreed that Egan was fouled on the last shot and it was off in time. The coach and team understands the game was at GRC and usually not going to get that call. Wazoo reported it as a foul, good comentary on a no call. Congrats to RC, keep up the hard work.

Rowan Co has a nice team . They had a very effective defense. I agree they made a great effort. Clark Co just didn't come to play. I wish Rowan Co the best in their region .I think they have a great chance in winning the 16th region. A half second is a very short time and by the time you catch the ball and bend your knees to jump to shoot time should be expired even before the shot was taken.

Prep Basketball: Cardinals survive close call in win over Rowan County

The Cards scored 13 of the first 15 points and led 13-2 five minutes into the contest, but Rowan rallied with an 11-0 run of its own and tied the score at 13-13 to open the second frame.

Clark quickly regained the lead and increased the margin to 51-41 with four minutes remaining, but Rowan pulled to within 53-52 with 40 seconds left, but couldn’t get any closer, missing two treys in the final 20 seconds. A free throw by Zollo provided the final margin.

The Cards struggled on both ends of the floor, especially offensively. Clark committed 14 turnovers, including 10 in the opening half, five of which occurred in consecutive fashion in the final three minutes of the first quarter. The Vikings scored on each one of those miscues, nearly erasing Clark’s early advantage.

How can you have a foul after the clock goes to 0.00?

I think Rowan Co. deserves a lot of credit for the way GRC played. They played good defense, which IMO dictated the tempo of the game and gave them a chance to win on the road to a top 3 team in the state. I don't buy into the fatigue factor because of the recent games GRC played; looking at the KHSAA site, that was the 4th game in 5 nights Rowan played . Very good showing for the Vikings.

I agree, a good hard practice is about as tiring as a game and they practice every off day. They should be able to go hard every day. I don't think the boys get tired physicially but may get mentally tired of playing so often. Clark played extremely well Saturday morning after playing Friday night but seemed somewhat tired in the second half in the game Saturday night. And again ,it has a lot to do with the physical endurance that a boy has. Some boys can play three games a day and never seemed tired where others are made to wear down in just with one game a day. I remember that in high school, our practices were much harder than the games we played in.

Just in case you missed it, you can still see the game on line on Wazoo Sports.com. As far as what the announcers said about the last second foul, they called it a foul, and Rowan Co should have been at the free throw line for three shots. GRC definately had a home court advantage and overlooked Rowan Co's talent. GRC pushed, fouled and charged there way to the last .5 sec without fouls being called against them. Just watch the game for yourself and you'll see what I am talking about. No crying, just fact. Hats off to Rowan Co for a great effort.

Ive been to a few games at Winchester, some close and some not so close. Youre not going to get that call if youre the visiting team. The only way you get that call is if youre the home team. Just the way it is, and not just in Winchester either.

Well hopefully the 10th can draw the 16th tomorrow, both these teams win their region, then neutral officials and a neutral floor can help us all decide the better team.

In case noone noticed, the officiating crew for the Rowan-GRC game was VERY young, one of the refs I know has not done many if any games until now. Like it or not the refs are part of the game and calls and no calls can go either way. Teams cannot complain about what happens in the last seconds of a game, you have a whole game to win it or lose it!

I thought the Ref's called a pretty even game overall. You might want to rethink the Bolded comment - and review the tape of your own's team play.

Replay the link and watch it several times, AND listen to when the buzzer went off to end the game.

Regardless of the outcome, Rowen Co earned a lot of points in my eyes. Wish them luck in the 16th.

IMO, the best compliment an official can receive is that they were consistent on both sides of the ball throughout the game..... this does include the last .5 seconds which is part of the whole game... If it is a foul in the first quarter then it is a foul in the fourth with .5 seconds to go. Obviously the officials where thought to be competent in the first place or they would not have been assigned to a high profile game....

How can you have a foul on a play that starts at .5 unless a player is being held as he shoots?
