Seemingly Cornbread has been around forever and has undoubtedly impacted the lives of many of the young folks for which he has called games. Like him or not, Cornbread is a class act.

Outstanding! I can't imagine getting up and down the floor at age 70.

Absolutely love Cornbread as a person! Have talked to him on many occasions before games over the years, and enjoyed it everytime. But, that being said, I have to wonder sometimes why he is still out there on the court. I would not rank him anywhere near the top of 8th region officials right now (or maybe even the past several years.)

God Bless Cornbread. Doesn't look much different than he did over twenty years ago. He will be missed when he decides to hang it up.

WOW. Great article. Its too bad the world has come to the point that someone always has to be negative. I know many coaches, referees, and fans who still do what they do for the kids. I'd take this referee anyday.

Cornbread was a great official! More importantly he is and always will be a great PERSON! He is top notch and loved watching him ref over the years. He truly loves kids! I hope i can get out of my lazy boy at 70 let alone run up and down a basketball floor.

Besides officiating when I played in high school, Cornbread also umpired some of our games during baseball season. Definitely one of my all time favorites.

In addition to his knowledge of basketball and softball, Cornbread used to keep stats for our high school football team when his grandsons played. As a matter of fact, he trained me and I worked with him for several seasons. We had lots of fun over the years. :thumb:
