No dog in this one. I could see though where someone predisposed to cursing (I might fall into that group) might do so in a more stressful environment(game) than a non-stressful environment (practice).

I'll take the heat for awhile. Come on now, it's easy to cherry pick statements and group them together. I made the statement about the Camels having three starters that were sick in a different thread. The Camels won that game, so "sick" was not a reason for a loss. Raiderbird made a comment in this thread that he had heard McGovney hurt his back and maybe that was a contributing factor in his game. I don't know that Raiderbird is a Camel Fan, could just be someone interjecting a comment into this discussion. I don't believe I have seen a statement anywhere saying the "refs" took a win away from anyone, or they were the reason for a loss. I don't remember seeing anyone badgering Mason County when they talk about things will be better when Pawsett returns. The same for any team that has key injured or sick player. It also makes me scratch my head when someone has to verify their already known, "cold hard facts". "I know for a cold hard fact Coach Brannen doesnt use foul language in practice, I actually verfied this with someone very close to the action." I mean shouldn't you verify first, then make it a cold hard fact. I know for a cold hard fact that concrete is hard, there would be no need for me to verify that fact, unless I really wasn't as sure as I wanted everyone to believe. You guys are being hard on afi100guy. Many of us see things differently, and we saw the same thing at the same time, but we can't agree on what we have seen. Does that make you right, or me, or does it really matter? :popcorn:

I think this thread has run its course.

From what I understand the players are not too fond of him either. That program would be better served to have JV coach Jimmy Pangallo running the show. I gurantee they would get more kids out for the program and they would play harder. Like I said, after Geisler is gone this program may in for some hard times over the next couple years.

 

You couldn't be more wrong and must not know much about the pipeline of good basketball players coming to NewCath. In fact they'll be loaded in a few years. Jake Schulte is going to take over for Jake Giesler, he's only a Freshmen and starting JV. He's better than Giesler was as a freshman and is already 6'5" -6'6". There are some nice players that are 8th graders now that will be good and the 7th grade future Breds are loaded with talent.

3 yrs is quite a ways off and I know about Schulte but if you think he will avg 25 pts a game next yr you are crazy.

Also, if kids think that it is hard to play for Brannen, then they should thank their lucky stars that Dawn isn't coaching still. Grant's heart is in the right place, and he is in this for all of the right reasons, that shines through. That's what is important. The kids know that and he will do whatever he possibly can do to make them better players. He has a very good grasp of how to make the basketball program work w/ a successful football program at a small school. He's a good dude. I wish my sons would play for him (they won't, they want to be Bluebirds, sigh.)

My son made mention of both the football and basketball success at NC and was neat that both programs was successful in tandem. For these Bird parents it came unexpected.
