The last time CCH played at Beechwood two years ago Beechwood pulled out the win.

 

I remember the game well. Coach Schumate looked like he had bubonic plague but stayed on the side lines the entire game. He and his assistants coached a great game. The Tigers held on for the win. The District game that year between Beechwood and Cov. Cath. at Holy Cross was another great game. (As I recall, Buettel did his best Larry Bird impersonation that night. Coach L. threw the kitchen sink at him trying to cool him off, including pulling sophomore Cubby Conley off the bench, but Buettel was on fire.) Playing at Beechwood, considering the rivalry, this is one of those games Cov. Cath. wins easily 9 out of 10 times. The Tigers do have size and athletes. If this one is that 10th out of 10, it might be close.

Just for giggles, maybe they could have a warm up game between a team of Crazies vs. a team of Tiger rowdies or maybe I'm just crazy for thinking about it. Still think it could be a hoot though. I guarantee that you could find the guys to go for it. It probably breaks some kind of rule though. :idunno:

I suspect School would have liability for injuries. Wonder how many students will show up. I got halfway there last night and had to retreat due to the icy roads.

How do you figure? Seriously If Beechwood can limit the touches Thelen gets they can keep this a game. The key for Beechwood is they will have to play aggressive man-man defense and be hitting their shots. Fangman will really have to be on fire for them.

C'mon TOG... Let's not get carried away. I think that everything you're saying here except for the district seeding part certainly applied to the Highlands game. But Beechwood? Sure, the Beechwood game is an important seeding game, and truly the Colonels should always bring their 'A' game regardless who their opponent is. Yeah, there's some merit to it being a rivalry for neighborhood bragging rights, but one of the biggest in the Commonwealth might be a stretch. I may be mislead, but my crystal ball isn't seeing much of a big threat here by the Tigers. It's really telling me of an ugly blowout even if the Colonels only bring an A- or B+ game. I honestly haven't seen Beechwood play yet this year, but my gut is telling me that they don't pose anywhere near the threat that the Birds did. With the way the JV Colonels played in their Bird outing, I'd almost be tempted to say that they'd be strong enough to handle this game and let the big boys have a rest. Well... maybe that is also a stretch, but I gotta believe that the Colonels are a bit too mighty for this years version of the Tigers. Hey... but I've been wrong before...

If Beechwoods JV had not gone 5-17 from the free throw line missing front ends of 7 1-1 they woud have given Cov Caths JV all they wanted. Beechwoods JV team has been struggling. Varsity plays the same way tonite it is going to be a barnburner.

If the Colonels do not bring their A game again as they did against Highlands, I agree it could be a closer game. However, If the Colonels play as they had been, it wil not be a barnburner
