Lexington Catholic 83 Mason County 59

Consolation game at the Iolani Classic tournament in Hawaii.

Knights will play for 5th place tomorrow against Wheeler, GA. Royals will play host school Iolani for 7th place tomorrow.

That's quite a licking. Thought Mason Co would play them a little better than that.

Ya gotta love traveling four time zones to play a team an hour away.

Catholic was only up 2 at the end of the 1st quarter, 6 at the half and up 11 going into the 4th. This was by no means a blowout from the start, tough loss for the Royals, but give Catholic credit on the nice win.

Well said!

Sounds like Lexcath simply wore MC down throughout the game.

Not much depth for Mason Co.This seems to be a weakness they have this year. Gilbert did not come out of the game untill he put the subs in at 2:40 to go in game. While Lexington Catholic had used 10 players throught the game. It will help when Mason gets Pawsat back. Not a blow out to start, but it ended in a blow out. This is how Lexington Catholic beats alot of teams, wears them down and uses their depth.

IMO, Mason Co goes as Gilbert goes. He was held to 3 points last night. Last year Mason had Justin and Bradley Lang and Bluford. Lack of experience and depth in the bench is what Mason Co is facing this year.

Tuesday, December 21, 2010Royals routed by Lexington Catholic 83-59

Lexington Catholic's depth and pressure defense was too much for Mason County as the Knights routed the Royals 83-59 Monday in the Iolani Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. Lexington Catholic's lead was just four points at 44-40 with 3:20 left in the third quarter, but the Knights ended the quarter on a 16-9 run and outscored the Royals 23-10 in the fourth quarter. Lexington Catholic scored 27 points off 17 Mason County turnovers. The Knights had 17 points off the bench compared to just two for Mason County. Tyler Black had a game-high 25 points for Mason County. Connor Osborne scored a career-high 12 points and Treg Setty added 11 points. Mason County will play the Iolani Raiders in the seventh place game Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. (Maysville time).

No, I would love to see the Montverde, Oak Hill championship game tonight, should be a great game.

As others have said, Royals just don't have the bench and even with Pawsat, you aren't going to win with just 5 players. No disrespect meant to anyone else the Royals play this year, but their schedule lightens up a great deal once they get home and will be more on level with what the Royals have. Win tonight against Iolani, they finish this tournament 2-2.

Actually, it's five time zones away. The only reason I know is because I was stationed there for 3.5 years. Hawaii does not change their clocks. For half of the year they are five hours difference for the other half they are six hours difference.

Much thanks for info. Agree about the Championship game. That should be a great one.

Pawsat will be a great lift for MaCo when he gets back.

A bit surprised by the score but all that travel and multiple games in a short period of time has to wear on a team without much depth. So I don't think this is really an indication that Catholic is that much better than Mason. Mason will be fine when they get back and start their normal schedule of games. They are still 1/1A with Clark, in a you pick em order, in the 10th and one of the best teams in KY.

83-59 is a blowout, no matter when it happened, beginning or end or middle, c'mon.
