A little "adventure driving" is good for you. :lol: I got my share this morning. The big problem isn't so much the snow or lack of snow plows, it's the idiots behind the wheel of some vehicles. There's a list of 3 that cause the problem and mix like oil and water. They're as follows.

 

A) The "white knuckler" - Scared to death of driving in the snow and lacks all skills to do so.

B) The little car youngin - Too dumb to realize their car doesn't have a lot of weight and gets stuck easier. They're usually the ones tailgating and going faster than they should be.

C) The 4 wheel drive road hog - We all know this moron, he thinks just because he has 4 wheel drive he can drive as fast as he wants in any weather conditions and doesn't understand that 4 wheel drive doesn't make slick any less slick.

 

Always an exciting drive to work in the snow with numerous supply of these three making the commute with the rest of the sane people. :lol:

I'll admit to having 4WD, and traveling a little bit faster than most of the traffic when I have space to do so...but that doesn't mean I'm cruising at 65 and whizzing around cars.

Northern Kentucky roads

Across Northern Kentucky, state road crews also worked through the night plowing and salting highways and secondary routes, said Nancy Wood, spokeswoman for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s District 6 region, which covers Northern Kentucky.

 

A total of 123 trucks are out clearing 4,500 lane miles district-wide. Five trucks alone are working to ensure the steep Cut-in-the-Hill is clear for the morning commute, she said.

 

“They’ve treated each route at least two or three times,” she said. “With this kind of snow, where it keeps coming down, it’s just a continuous process. Some of our southern counties like Owen and Pendleton have seen some sleet.”

 

It would be best if motorists could wait until daylight hits to venture out, she warned.

 

“It’s just going to be a slow go,” she said. “If people could just delay their commute until our crews can have better visibility of what they are doing, it would help make the situation a lot better. Right now the roadways are covered, so it’s hard to even see markings. You might see some tire paths but to know you are in the lane or how far off the side of the road you are is a bit of an issue because of the intensity of the snow.”

 

The good news, she said, is that so far the snow is fine and wet: “It will be easier for our snow plows to push and treat.”

 

Man up people, budget problems have hit everywhere.

 

No way there were any trucks on 471 or 275 prior to 5 AM

Here's my problem. There was only about 4 inches of sm=now on the ground when I began my trek. It shouldn't have been anywhere near as bad as it was.

When I had my Jeep I would occasionally be C.

I was thinking about that. I can't remember the last time we had much if any snow accumulation previous to Christmas. This year, all signs are pointing to a "white Christmas". I guess that could be nice, for a change...supposing the highway department has gotten the roads cleared by then.

 

I don't have a thing against a white Christmas, as long as it's accompanied by black roads.

MC we made the exact same trek (Campbell County to Mineola) and it was awful!!!!!!!!!!!! Not one truck on the road plowing or spreading salt between my departure time 5:05 and my arrival time 6:15

No worries. I didn't take it as you pointing your finger at all 4WD owners...it's the morons that give us all a bad name though.

Cincinnati Enquirer said we (greater Cincinnati) get a white Christmas about once every 11 years. And it's looking more and more like this will be one of them.

I'm sure the salt trucks are working hard and prepping the roads as we speak.
