So, this morning was fun. :lol:

I salted like a madwoman last night.

Got up at my normal 4:30a. And the salting was for naught! The Luckster and I slid down the steps to the side walk, then skated up to the park to take his short morning constitution. We trudge up the hill, then I realize that in our normal course of walking, we'll have to traverse a sidewalk that's sure to be a skating rink, with no where to fall but the street. So I decide it would be better to just go down the hill, where at least there's some grass poking through for me to get traction. NOT A GOOD IDEA! I slide down the hill up right to a tree, hug that for a moment while trying to figure out my next course of action. In the end, I sat down and slid down the hill on my butt. :lol: The Luckster was having a field day with that one. :lol:

 

Got home, struggled back up the steps, put the dog inside and salted like a madwoman again. Went back inside, got ready for work. Went outside, started my car to warm up, walked about a 1/2 block to my daughter's car and chipped and scraped the ice off. Went back to my car, scraped what needed to be scraped and slowly drove to work. I get here, and 2 people have called in. Seriously? I just went through all that, and the two people who are to work this morning called in? Neither had even checked to see what they could do! One is waiting until it's daylight to decide if they come to work. The other has "20 stop lights" between her home and work and is watching the TV to decide whether or not she should attempt the drive. Now, call me crazy, but I'm totally ticked!

RM I don't see any reason to be ticked about it, other than you have to do their work . It's just work and their safety is far more important. If I would have known the roads where like they are I would have waited a few hours to come in.

The roads here aren't even that bad! Once you get to the main roads, they're just slushy! NOT ONLY THAT! They were asked to come in and stay here overnight to ensure we had staff this morning and they refused. Now....yes...I'm ticked.

:lol: A few weeks ago when we had the snow around Thanksgiving, I was cleaning off my mother's wheelchair ramp with the snow shovel. I got to the top, laid the shovel against the railing, turned and started to slide down the wheelchair ramp. Now, had someone been there to film it, it would have been hilarious. You know the position that a snow boarder gets in when he/she does jumps? Knees bent, body low to the ground, centered over the board? That was me, though I was sliding all of the way down the ramp. How I didn't fall on my tookas (an RTS word ), I'll never know. I literally laughed when I got to the bottom.

Well my final is postposned until tomorrow at 1 pm. The first time I can ever remember a final being postponed at NKU, and believe me I've been there a while.

More than likely they won't extend the delay past noon, but who knows. I live right off taylor mill road in southern kenton county and the main roads are now "slushy", two hours ago they were still just completely snow covered(no slush). Who knows, the back roads are still pretty bad but NKU has always seemed to think that if the highways are clear then people should be able to make it in.
