The new super district in 6A will have a big effect on 6A, I'm just not sure what it will be. One possibility is that teams that haven't been able to win a district title will now do so and generate enthusiasm and growth for their program. The other possibility is that the super district will suck all of the air out of 6A and the rest of 6A will be ignored. Male was largely overlooked this year on their way to the championship game. Will a super district do the same thing to Ballard? It will be fun to see how it plays out. I have maintained from the beginning that the new alignment has the least affect on Trinity and X. To win the title they have to beat the other and four others. That is the same under both the old and new alignment. The public school rising powers like Ballard will win their district but they will enter the playoffs with zero experience against the teams you have to beqat on the way to the title. The only effect that this will have on T & X is deciding home field for their playoff game. As for the rest of 6A, it will be the same old thing, just that there will be 3 semi-finalist sacrificial lambs instead of 2 that we had many years.

It will rotate. Next year the first round opponents for the super district will be Central Hardin, Meade County, Nelson County and the 5th place NKY 6A team. I want to go one the record right now predicting a super district sweep in the first round of the playoffs in 2011.

I believe one of the reasons stated had to do with a more geographically efficient alignment. Who knew we were traveling too far for district games?

Obviously, the KHSAA was inundated with phone calls from other 6A schools informing them of the unfair distances our schools had to travel for district games. These other 6A schools were really doing us a favor because we can now save $2.89 on fuel by traveling 0.8 mile less a season.

Will the KHSAA permit us to play there since it is so fuel conscious? Seems outrageous that both teams travel to stadium for a regular season district game. If we make it a home and home series, we can save another $16.38 every other year by not making the 5 mile trip.

To be fair, that's probably going to be the case every year. And as a result, there will be some No. 1 seeds whining about how their best season in school history was ended prematurely because of this gerrymandering, and talk of changing it again will bubble over.
