Of note: Andrew Baker did not play or make the trip to Lexington, due to sickness.

Looks like after a sluggish first quarter, the Knights got it in gear and slowly pulled away.

Congrats to LC on the win.

Both teams shot under 40%. Schuette remains o'fer on the year from behind the arc, which is a pretty amazing stat. The telling stat of this game was LexCath 20 points off turnovers to CovCath's 2.

Did they run their vaunted 1-3-1 full court trap press? They ran that effectively this summer when I saw them play J-Town.

They ran a 2-2-1.

Not a pretty game by any measure. Connelly scored six points in the first quarter and then quickly began collecting fouls to the point where he was never a factor after the first peiod to the point where he eventually fouled out of the game. Drew Baker was sorely missed. Free throws..... well we missed them, again.

CovCath showed a reluctance to drive the ball to the basket and in many cases they passed up wide open jump shots. This didn't come from just one player, it was endemic of the whole team. I don't understand it.

The most disturbing event in this game, however, came in the third period when Andrew Schult went down with what appeared to be an ankle injury. He was in obvious pain and was on the court for several minutes being attended to by the trainers. While he was down on the court, the Lex Cath student section mocked him crying noises and jeers of 'Fake!, Fake'. This all occurred while adults who appeared to be Lex Cath faculty looked on with indifference, at best and bemusement at worst. I was absolutely sickened by this display. One would think that a religious based school would be close enough to the principles carved into the walls in the gym lobby that this type of classless behavior would not even be a remote possibility.

Last year Lex Cath had a player come in to CovCath's gym and 'sign' the CovCath school logo during the pregame introductions. I was appalled by that gesture then. Little did I know that Lex Cath would be able to top that. Truly, truly a total lack of class.

People who know me will be shocked to hear me say this, but I believe that Highlands has more class than LexCath. I could not see the Bird student body jeering an injured player on the court, EVEN if it was a CovCath player.

I couldn't agree more with the lack of respect from the LC student section. On another note, CCH has work to do. Other than Cleves hitting two 3 point shots they had no other player show any level of effectiveness from the outside. Thelen can't do it all even if he is one of the best in the 9th region. The team will have to be able to step up and score when Thelen is off his game like he was last night. With Ryle and Connor over the next two weeks we should be able to clearly see where they stand vs. some of the better teams in our own region. The trip to LC was too early in the season to see what CCH might be later.

I agree, I cant imagine the Highlands fans jeering a kid when he was down. I will also agree that CovCath will need an outside threat to go with Thelen if they want to contend for the Region.

Uh oh ... is this headed toward another year with no consistent, quality guard play for CCH? Who can step up and get it done on this team?

Ryle is not one of the "better" teams in the region.

CovCath's potential best two guards are seniors at Holy Cross.

Who would that be?

I can understand your anger if the student section was mocking a player when he was injured. However, I was sitting next to the student body and did not hear it. That does not mean it wasn't happening; but to suggest that adults, including the Lex Cath faculty, were bemused is not justified. I can assure you that would not be condoned.

Also, I saw the incident that happened last year. That was an act by an individual and it represented his "all about me" attitude. It did not represent the school's attitude, and after the coaches heard about it, he never did it again. He is not at Lex Cath this year.
