The BCPWFL feeds 4 high schools, so the whole basis of your posts is curious. I believe all other leagues you are seeking input from "feed" only one school.

Also, do not forget that the whole reason that the BCPWFL "owns" its own field in because the high schools of Boone County would no longer allow games to be played on the high school fields.

I expect some changes to come in the BCPWFL.

I believe that the BCPWFL has been wanting for years to let the middle schools in Boone County take over the Senior Divison in the BCPWFL. It is my understanding that the middle schools have not wanted to do that.

I have heard just the opposite.

When you have 49 kids on one midget (3rd and 4th grade) team I would say there is a flaw in the system.

I have heard just the opposite.

Correct, BCPWFL will maintain control over their senior league teams. the BCPWFL will officially pair up teams in accordance to their respective high school teams.

Heard they may try to break a team off for each grade to allow more playing time, not certain.

Other news is it sure sounds like 99% certain Cooper High school will be starting a junior high Union Raider type program imminently.

I'm sure all of you have see Varsity Blues. In the movie there are pictures of the players playing together their whole careers from peewee level. They were influenced by the high school team since being in K or 1st grade. They dreamed of playing for the varsity squad TOGETHER. I grew up playing peewee in Ohio. When I came to Kentucky I was not the only player who didn't know everybody on the team. Then once high school came along I again did not know my whole team. That is what these boys are missing. They are missing the brotherhood. Someone put in another thread about a young man saying his team has dreamt about this TOGETHER for 10 YEARS. In the Boone County progam they only get to dream TOGHETHER for 4 years. That is the difference. BCPWFL needs to set up teams for certain high schools and get rid of the "draft" or just fold. I'm very excited to see what the Union Raiders and other feeder progams produce.

I agree. That's just ridiculous!

You heard wrong. I know with great certainty that a few years ago the league spoke with school board and they were not interested.

This is Ft.Thomas....

Just reporting a rumor that I have heard from several sources. I am not at all saying that it is accurate but why in wide world of sports would the school board reject that idea.

Now that is movement in the right direction. If they can get those changes in effect it would be a HUGE improvement. I hope they continue to evolve as the population keeps growing.

I will say with the Fort Thomas system, everyone grows up wanting to win state championships and the coaching is influenced by the high school. I think this is great. But not everyone plays together on one team for 10 years. They have multiple grade/middle school teams that play each other. I believe they are all coached the same, but they are wanting to beat the other team they face. The teams are based on where they live or grade school so they probably do not know all their teammates until they reach freshman, because they are foes until then. They may get to know each other in Middle School since they are all in the same school, but they want to beat each other until they are on the same team as freshman.

Maybe I am wrong on this. But I agree, the Fort Thomas feeder system is one of the main reasons for the birds success. Thank God for Homer Rice. By the kids playing in their own league, everyone gets to play more and get much better coaching. They are taught the right way from early on.

In the FTJFL most of the boys know each other once they get to the middle school. They do try to beat each other and win as many games as possible but in the end there are no standings, no league champions and yes everyone gets a trophy. The teams play all twenty to twenty-five players a designated amount and while the system isn't perfect it does build some very good football players. HHS and NCC are the proof that it develops a lot of quality players. In the end the boys play for the trophy there dads, uncles, brothers, all have played for, the State Championship trophy.
