The official "There shouldn't be 2 Louisville schools in the finals" thread.

:thumb: Central is certainly doing things right and should be acknowledged.

While I thought the topic of this thread was ridiculous, I am very happy with the success that Central has had. I like the quote from Wales:

In helping the Yellowjackets avenge a 24-21 loss in last year's semifinal in Paducah, Wales carried 22 times for 134 yards, raising his season total to 2,722 yards. He has scored 38 TDs.

He had only two long runs against the quick-hitting Tilghman defense, gaining 22 yards on his first carry and romping for a 50-yard gain in the second half.

"
My teammates did a good job keeping me in the game
," Wales said.

Courier-Journal:"Central earns trip to final by beating Tilghman 35-18" http://www.highschoolsports.net/local/Louisville/article/2010311260078

Noone really wants to acknowledge Central. They keep winning year in and year out, rack up titles, sending guys to major college programs, but we need to keep quiet about them inner city teams.

I understand what you are saying and respect what Central has done, but it should be noted their state championship success has come after the expansion to six classes of football in Kentucky.

1. Why don’t you make another thread with this topic that relates to your point. The point of this thread was to bash a Trinity vs Male 6A final. Now we bring in the football class system as well.

2. Bringing up Central was extremely appropriate because the topic is “The official ‘There shouldn't be 2 Louisville schools in the finals’ thread.” There are 3 Louisville schools in the state finals, not 2.

I think that the intent of the thread was "There shouldn't be 2 Louisville schools in the finals in the same class" thread.

I know.............I think I just get a little edge on me when it's "BASH LOUISVILLE" thread.

Why not, if they are the best?

It isn't a bash louisville thread. The OP is a Trinity fan. I think he started the thread to make a point. I am also pretty sure he was talking about 6A.

Give the man a cigar

I figured it was just a matter of time before a thread was started bemoaning 2 teams from Louisville playing each other for a championship so I got a jump on them. :deadhorse:

I should have been clearer that I was referring to just 6A and mean no offense to Central but they didn't even figure into my reasoning behind this thread.

I'm from Louisville, this thread was started with sarcasm intended.

If they are the best two teams in the state, then they should be in the finals. KHSAA should not manipulate anything. If a school builds a program then "they will come" ie. Highlands, Bolye Co., Corbin, Beechwood, Mayfield etc.

Yea, I haven't posted as much lately, but I gathered this after more posts on this thread. I also went back and read other posts by people who made post on this thread. I wasn't as familiar with people who posted to know that their was sarcasm intended initially.

Louisville has been the leader in the large school class football for a pretty long time.. Ever since 1987, only 3 teams from NKY have played in the state finals. Boone in 87, Ryle and SK most recently.. Louisville will always dominate big school football and continually win state championships...

I believe that Boone played Louisville St. X in the '94 or '93 4A title game when Alexander still played. If I remember right, the final score was 3-0, the lowest score on any title game.

Sorry, it was '92.

Same 3-0 score that St. X beat Trinity in the finals in 1997. Chp Mattingly recovered a Trinity fumble that resulted in a field goal to win. Harkens back to a time when teams played great defense.
