Does Carl's role get bigger as the series goes on, per comic books? Wish they would re-cast that role, a 15-16 year old experienced actor could bring a lot to that role

Thats hard to say since he and Sophie grow up together.

Just reread volume 1-2 today while at library to see the differences.

 

They pretty much ended up in the same place while taking different routes to get there.

 

Few differences. T-dawg was Tyreese and had daughter/daughter's boyfriend.

 

Dale and Sophie still alive.

 

No Daryle.

 

Volume 2 ends up almost identical to season 2 ending. Prison in background of where they are camping after leaving farm.

 

Also, there is another character named Allan and twin boys not in show.

 

I read an interview with Kirkman where he said T-Dawg & Tyreese are not the same people. Don't know if Tyreese is going to be introduced, but he said they weren't the same.

Unlike some others, I thought Season Two was done very, very well. I thought this final episode of the season was excellent. Was hoping some major characters would get killed off....*cough* Laurie *cough*...but I guess I can live with this.

 

I thought the introduction of Michonne (the hooded character) was tremendous. She's the one character I've anticipated the most--trying to see how her TV character compares with the comics character.

 

Someone else said Hershel has totally changed as a character & I wholeheartedly agree. Just remember, at the halfway point of this season, he was catching walkers & trapping them in his barn. Half a season later he's shooting as many as he can before escaping his farm. They said on Talking Dead that Hershel was originally supposed to die this season (was supposed to be killed by Randall), but that it just didn't work. So I'm thinking he's got a short shelf life. In the comics, he teaches the group how to grow their own food, which comes in handy later.

 

And then there's the prison. Second to the Michonne character, I'm curious to see how long they'll stay there. It's a lengthy amount of time in the comics & things get really crazy there. Thought it was a very cool ending showing it in the distance.

 

Best show on television, in my opinion. To those wanting to start on the comics, I say go for it. I got the compendium for Christmas (first 48 issues in one big volume). Then I've purchased some of the hardback volumes & some of the smaller volumes like LBBC has mentioned. Right now, since I'm current with the series, I'm reading them issue by issue. I highly recommend them.

There's a lot about the Governor that intrigues me, but there's more about Michonne that intrigues me. Actually, combine the two & I'm really curious. The Governor vs. Michonne...that's probably the most memorable thing for me about the comics. Very, very disturbing. No way they do all of that on the television show.

On your first paragraph, the comics are good, but in a lot of ways a totally different story. Most of the story foundation is the same--characters, settings, etc. But even with that, there are some differences. The whole CDC thing from Season 1 wasn't even in the comics. And there are some characters, namely Daryl, who aren't even in the comics. But the beginning hospital, meeting Morgan & Dewayne, going to Atlanta, Hershel's farm, & the upcoming prison are all basic parts of the comic story.

 

On your second paragraph, I would say it's directed at both. I can see her (possibly) very slowly becoming the character she is in the comics. She's very much lacking self-esteem, an attention monger, & basically goes totally crazy. I have a hard time, though, seeing her TV character becoming that.

 

Overall, the comics are worth your attention. Much more graphic, violent, bloody, etc. It's much more of an "anything goes" kind of Walking Dead world.
