I know all of us are struggling waiting for the show to start, but we have to remember it's going to be a 16-episode season, as opposed to the 6-episode first season or the 13-episode 2nd season.

 

I know I'm excited for that, hoping for the same the Sons of Anarchy as well.

 

I'm with you on The Governor. I wonder how dark they'll allow that character to be.

 

Not sure. I've read that they are not going to tame it that much from the comics because thy like to push the limits on the show. I hope thy keep a lot of key parts from the comics. Right now I think I have an idea of something that may happen to one character that happened to Rick in the comics.

Here is the season 3 trailer. I'm only worried about The Govenor. The character in the comics is so cruel and bad I just hope the show gets the same effect. Right now he just doesn't seem like he will match up, I hope I'm wrong though. Other than that this season looks awesome.

He is one twisted guy. He plays off like he is nice to the towns people of Woodbury but behind the scenes he is ruthless. He is manipulative and will kill anyone as long as he survives. He believes that when this whole thing is over that he will be the one who saved humanity and conquered it all.

 

 

There is a book called "Rise of the Govenor" that is said to be very good. I haven't been able to read it yet.

Awesome I'm excited to hear all of that, between this and the crazy new character at the end of last season this should be a lot of craziness throughout the season.

For those of you that have or are reading the comics, do you feel it's taken away from the show at all, or maybe possibly added to it, as far as enjoying the show I mean.

 

It hasn't taken away anything from a suspense standpoint, because they change things up. Dale doesn't die until much later in the comics, but Shane dies much earlier. Sophia is still alive in the comics.

 

The story line differs some too. The whole CDC thing in the first season of the TV show doesn't even happen in the comics. Daryl is a fan favorite of the TV series, but isn't even a character in the comics.

 

Overall, the settings are the same (small town to start in both comics & TV, Atlanta, Hershel's farm, upcoming prison), so you do get a general idea where the setting is going. But they change it up enough so you can't use the comics & expect to know exactly what's going to happen in the TV show.

 

I like the TV show better, but the comics are very intriguing. If the TV show holds true, this third season is going to be memorable. The prison setting is the best part of the comics IMO.

I agree with everything Randy Parker said and I will add some.

 

The comics are awesome and so is the show. You would think by reading the comics you'd know what happens in The show but you don't have a clue. Characters are different, deaths happen sooner or later and sometimes what happens to one character in the comics happens to another in the show.

 

If you ever wanted to read the comics I'd recommend The Walking Dead: Compendium 1, to get caught up. It's comics 1-48 in one complete book. That's how I read them and it's awesome.

 

There are so many aspects in the comics that I can't wait to see how they add them to the show and everything.

Michonne is such a great character, I can't wait to see her kick butt in the show.
