That's kinda what they said about the show. There is no timetable for how long this show could run. Really depends if the creativity and writing holds up.

The teaser clips on AMC look amazing. But why do I find myself before the season begins wanting someone to shoot Lori and Carl on the opening scene? Does that make me a bad fan? :D

I strongly recommend the comics to anyone who loves the show. They are absolutely amazing and offer a lot more background and insight to some of the things that take place.
