Steelers 27 Bengals 21

Featured Replies

They were on the same drive. First he challenged the catch by Wallace on the sideline when even a quick look at the replay showed that he made the catch and took 3 steps inbounds. I'm assuming that made him afraid to use his 2nd challenge on the same drive because Ward was short of the goal line on his catch on 3rd and goal. That would have made it 4th and goal instead of Pittsburgh getting a touchdown.

Obviously you were watching the game on TV. The 1st challenge by Marvin was not a bad decision. Sure, in hindsight, it was obvious that Wallace got both feet in (actually, he took like 4 steps). But live, at the game, it was very difficult to tell. It didn't help that the replay at PBS did not show the best angle right away. Give Big Ben & The Steelers some credit. They got to the line in a hurry & Lewis had to make a snap decision & decided to throw the flag. It was the right decision, with the information he had at the time.

Chad is pathetic. He has no idea where to line up & he dogs routes. And that's that.

He's still got more talent than 75-80% of the WRs in the league. For whatever reason, this season he has given close to zero effort, outside of Week 1.

Everyone in the NFL has talent. Chad was dogging routes all night, and has been doing so all season.

One play in particular stands out. It was the play before he got taken out of the game for throwing a hissy fit. #85 lined up in the wrong space. He wasn't paying attention to CP9 or Shipley, so Shipley had to basically walk him out wide where #85 was supposed to be. Then #85 jogged the route, and CP9 threw it about 2 steps in front of him. Absolutely pathetic effort & I told Chad so.

Does this game cement the fact that Palmer isn't the problem? They have issues. QB isn't one of them.

I think football teams often take on the persona of their QB, and that is the Bengals. They are inconsistent, just liked their QB. Carson makes 10 good plays and then 2 total bonehead ones, and so do all the other players on this team. When you have a team full of inconsistent players, you get what we are seeing this year. Carson makes a half dozen plays every game that have you asking yourself if he is a veteran or a rookie.

It is difficult to gauge Carson's play when he has WRs who are running at half-speed.

He has made some errant throws, but he's not the root of the problem.

He only gave up one...He got taken out shortly after it, and Roland gave one up on the very next play.

:thumb: Yep, Roland gets a chance and promptly shows why it is Andre Smith or bust at RT. Roland has no business even being in the NFL. What happened to Anthony Collins? I thought he played pretty well last year and he is no where to be seen this year.

Whit...as in Whitworth? What happened?

Chad is a baby. He was pouting on the sidelines & I gave him my two cents worth (all game long...so I guess it's more like a dollar). Anyway, he came up to me after the game & I told him he wasn't running his routes hard. He asked if I knew football...said I watch the game, he plays the game. That he worked hard to get where he was. I told him that I know he worked hard & that I love him but that he was dogging routes all game. He just responded that he was double covered & there was nothing he could do.

Chad and Carson are done. They have no connection at all. Yes, Chad is double covered but Carson throws into double and triple coverage all the time so that shouldn't be the problem. :D I think Chad's off season Hollywood parade the last couple of years has ruined the chemistry those two had.

I think Chad needs to give up his TV shows or football. He is more interested in TV than playing football this year. Kind of like Bronson and his commercials and guitar playing. If you think back ever since he quit that he has pitched pretty well. I know it was bothering his wrist but maybe TV is bothering Chads brain.

^ Agreed. I've always thought that the older one gets, the more (not less) they need to focus on their sport. I don't think it's an accident that 85's production/chemistry has gone south.

FC, no one is saying a rookie QB would be better than Palmer right away, but newsflash my man, this team isn't winning any time soon. Better to just blow it up and start over on the offensive side.

Newsflash my man they just won the AFC North last year, after winning just 4 games the year before that. This is the NFL things can change very fast from Bad to Good and good to bad. Everyone agrees even those ESPN guys that the Bengals are very talented. However they are horrible up front on offense and defense. Not to mention the coaching is horrible. It will really depend on what they do in the off season about the coaches. If they make big changes, then they very easily could be winning next year. Now if they keep things the same basically, then I will agree with you that they won't win or be a serious contender anytime soon.

This off season they do need to blow up that coaching staff. Get rid of some guys like Chad, and do something to help that line out. So yes changes are needed, but the only thing they need to blow up is the coaching staff, and some personal changes.

Collins barely played last year. He started the year at RT for the first two to three games, and then Roland took his spot. However I agree that they should atleast give him a shot. IMO I don't think Andre Smith will ever be a good tackly in this league. I think he is going to be like a few other top tackles taken, who couldn't do it in the NFL but did well at guard. Leonard Davis was a top 4 pick, and sucked and he now has a good career at guard. Robert Gallery for Oakland sucked at Tackle, and is now doing well at guard. Both like Smith dominated in College, but just couldn't do tackle in the NFL. So we basically wasted a lot of money on a guy that IMO will be a guard in the future.

Collins started 7 games last year so you're way off...

Take 'em however you can get 'em. Bring on the Pats.

I agree. However those two know how to move with in the pocket to be effective. OH and they know when and where the pressure is coming from. They can read defenses. Palmer seems to struggle with that also. And to even compare Palmer to these two is a joke. Palmer can't hold their jocks...

Who compared Palmer to them?

Thank you. People just refuse to believe that bad routes, half speed routes, and drops are a bigger problem than QB play?

Palmer is going to make some bad throws. He always has. He forces things sometimes, but sometimes it works. For people to not expect that is weird to me.
