November 9, 201015 yr Just some observations from the game last night. I have to give credit where credit is due. HT nailed it with the 6 pt. spread. I also have to give alot of credit to the Bengal fans, not sure if it was simply because of MNF or what, but the ratio had to be 90% Bengal fans/10% Steeler fans. Great showing from the crowd. No clue why on the first drive that they didn't run Benson on the third and 1. Terrible decision. I have finally convinced several of my friends how thick skulled E.R.El really is. You'd think as a QB in college, he would understand where the hot read and what route he's supposed to run, and he seldom does. It happened twice last night. He did throw a TD on the reverse, but it was a better adjustment to a severely underthrown ball by Wallace. Wallace is super fast. TO is still a stud. That suspended camera over the field is mesmerizing. Kickers are freaks, whether good or bad. Got 3 hours sleep after the drive home. I was just getting ready to say that, I was shocked.
November 9, 201015 yr Did anyone see the replay of the hair on hair battle. Peko rocked Troy. Troy found out it's a little tougher to "blow up" a D-Lineman than it is a little RB or WR... Peko trucked him.
November 9, 201015 yr Really? Pittsburgh had pressure on Palmer a lot last night, and even had some sacks where no one even touched a guy. The one touchdown throw to TO, Palmer got absolutely drilled by a guy coming off the right side of the line. Andre Smith according to the stats gave up 2 sacks alone last night, and even got benched after one of them. His technique was really bad, the ESPN guys after the game even talked about how unimpressive he was. Also Dave Lapham talked about this too. There were a few times he did alright, but for the most part he didn't look to great. Palmer is in the adequate category. His problem is he is like a statue in the pocket. He has no mobility at all, and when you have NFL caliber athletes coming at you, best you be able to move a little. Even a crippled Bret Favre is more mobile than Carson Palmer. They seriously need to start thinking about the future at QB. If it's Palmer, they have no chance.
November 9, 201015 yr I was just getting ready to say that, I was shocked. I have been to many Pittsburgh/Cincy games in Cincy and I think that was the most lopsided game attendance for the home team.
November 9, 201015 yr Did anyone see the replay of the hair on hair battle. Peko rocked Troy. Thats football. Sometimes you're the hammer and sometimes you're the nail... He was definitly the nail on that one.
November 9, 201015 yr This game was a lot like last years game in Cincy. Pitt dominated for 3 quarters and Cincy makes a late run. The big difference is I like this outcome so much better.

They seriously need to start thinking about the future at QB. If it's Palmer, they have no chance. Whom do you suggest they get? There is not any free agent QB's that they can actually get that would be better than Palmer. Vick is the only one who probably could still do very well behind this poor offensive line, and with the way he is playing this year. I doubt Philly lets him leave. Then if you draft one of those top QB's out of college, we would get him killed. You really think a young QB would be better for the Bengals. Not only would he be having to learn NFL defenses and pass protections, he also would be running for his life and not knowing where his receiver is going if Chad is still on the team. I believe if they want any chance to win the next few years, then their best chance is Palmer. Especially with how bad this team usually is with QB's, lets not forget about that. We act like this is a place under Mike Brown, where its been a QB heaven for QB's to do well. I agree he is not mobile, however the offensive line is one of the worst in the league in pass protection, and you have two rookies who are big part of the passing, and a cry baby veteran who likes to run his own routes in Ocho. We have a QB that knows how to win against teams like Pittsburgh and Baltimore. The man simply owns Baltimore, and has 3 game winning drives against Pittsburgh, and could have been 4 last night. Most QB's don't have much success against the Steelers at the end of games, especially when the Steelers are protecting the lead.
November 9, 201015 yr When you play Pittsburgh you are going to have pressure on the qb whoever you are. I thought the ol played allright and if you don't think the dl played any better than they have been, I must have watched the wrong game. The ESPN guys were talking how good he was playing during the game and keeping Woodley off the qb. Our defensive line definitely played better last night. The ESPN guys were talking about how good of a job the offensive line did in the first half of the game. You didn't hear them say a word about it in the second half, because you had guys absolutely destroying Palmer and coming untouched on some. Then after the game if you watched the post game, they even talked about how unimpressive Andre Smith was in the game. Dave Lapham even said the same things about him too. I thought that was one of the worst pass blocking days they have had against the Steelers in the last 3 games. Palmer just did a good job though making the throws still as he was getting blown up.

Against a banged up Pitt Oline. At one point they were one injury away from a Dlineman coming across to Oline.

FC, no one is saying a rookie QB would be better than Palmer right away, but newsflash my man, this team isn't winning any time soon. Better to just blow it up and start over on the offensive side.
November 9, 201015 yr Brady and manning aren't very mobile. It's hard to overcome the coaching situation in Cincy. I agree. However those two know how to move with in the pocket to be effective. OH and they know when and where the pressure is coming from. They can read defenses. Palmer seems to struggle with that also. And to even compare Palmer to these two is a joke. Palmer can't hold their jocks...

Better to just blow it up and start over on the offensive side. Agreed! FC will never admonish CP, so no sense debating him on the point. Another point. How much jack is Palmer knocking down? Where does he rank in salary compared to the other QBs in the NFL?
November 9, 201015 yr Chad isn't terrible. He's still got a ton of talent, his problem right now seems to be motivation. I don't he's handling being 2nd fiddle very well. Chad is pathetic. He has no idea where to line up & he dogs routes. And that's that.
