Do Recent Events Suggest Terrell Owens has Been Given a Bad Rep?

Featured Replies

With the fall of the Cowboys and the continued decline of OC Jason Garrett's coaching star, coupled with the recent feud between Shannahan and McNabb, does it stand to reason that maybe Owens really was the scapegoat in his past incidents?

I'm a huge TO fan, so I'm admittedly biased towards him and have always felt he's been given a raw shake, but I can't help but smile when I hear all these things happening now. Maybe, just maybe TO wasn't really the issues, maybe he was the only one willing to step up and talk about it?

What does everyone think?

I do not dislike Owens, but he has earned his reputation as a volatile voice in the locker room. I think you are trying to read too much into it all. The Cowboys were a train wreck before Owens and continue to be one now. McNabb is not a natural leader that will stand up for himself, that is nothing shocking that T.O. exposed, the Eagles did enough of that themselves to McNabb. Remember, he was set out by the Eagles not because of McNabb, but because he was screwing off at practices and he wanted to renegotiate his deal. The Eagles are running just fine.

If players like he and Moss were worth so much and get bad reps for nothing, they would not be searching for places to play every time you turn around.

Regardless if he was the issue or not, stepping up and airing out dirty laundry to the media isn't always the best option. There is a reason none of these teams want to keep TO.

Maybe now on this roster he can be a face in the crowd instead of the chief bad guy.

That has nothing to do with the question posed.

T.O. is gasoline on a fire that has already started.

I think TO has earned his reputation, but I also think that people suspect things about him because of past instances which are not necessarily true.

I forget the exact quote, but TO was once asked about his successes on separate teams: He said "I don't know what it is, but I'm the common denominator." The guy is on the backside of his career but is still producing in Cincinnati. I could do without all of his antics & reality shows, but the guy could flat out play the game of football.

TO is a tool...

Which would be even more so true if he were an outside linebacker

 Ok, that was funny.

Wow, you're astute. Can't slip anything by you. And it has everything to do with the question. He doesn't stick out like a turd in a punchbowl in the mosh pit of Cincinnati. Hard to leave a trail of crud in Cincinnati like he has everywhere else, the trail was already here.

That more to your liking?

No. I like TO, but he's bad news for any team once he's been there long enough.

You Steeler fans shouldn't be talking about the Bengals that way. You guys have a few not so great citizens on your team too.

And a few more championship banners too

There is a simple answer to this threads question........No!
