The St. X Tigers (12-0) travel to Elizabethtown to meet the John Hardin Bulldogs (11-1) on Friday at 7:30 PM in the state 4-A quarterfinals. General admission tickets are $5 each and will be on sale in the St. X ticket office Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. No reserved seats are available for this game. The gates will open at 5:30 and seating may be limited.

 

 

DIRECTIONS TO JOHN HARDIN HIGH SCHOOL:

 

Take I-65 south to Exit 102. Go west on KY 313/Joe Prather Highway. Then go south on U.S. 31-W (Dixie Highway). At the third traffic light, the school will be on your right.

This atmosphere reminds me of the X / Nelson County game in 1997. Small Field with only a fraction of the seating needed to accommodate the crowd, two great football teams in fact the same two coaches. That night X traveled with @ 4,000 faithful to Bardstown and it turned out to be one of the best High School games I have ever seen.

 

There is something to say about atmosphere, even if the X fans are a little inconvenienced with the seating, you can’t put a price on the atmosphere created with a road trip to a small, somewhat rural setting. It’s what the High School Football Playoffs are all about. I am talking about the fans; the logistical nightmares for a traveling Team is another story all together.

I have a feeling it may approach that game. But probably no planes, helicopters and smoke filled tunnels.

On paper X should win this game going away, thank God we play the game instead of looking at numbers. This game will be decided by special team play and turnovers. JH has proven that nerves will not be a factor and they can win the close games. JH has nothing to lose but ever thing to gain, they will be loose and well prepared for X. I see this game going deep into the 4th qt. and JH pulling out a narrow victory with the home crowd behind them. GO DAWGS!!!!!

If the game goes deep in the 4th quarter and it is close- give a huge edge to St.X. They are big and very,very deep. It takes a toll by 4th quarter.Also the St.X kicking game is as good as it gets in high school football.Edge goes to X in that department as well. If JH is to win then they need to sprint to a big early lead then hang on.If St.X goes up early then kiss this game good bye.

I just drove by J H's facility, impressive looking school and stadium. However it is way to small for a playoff gave with a team like X that brings many fans.

Vic is no better than Beaumont. X will not need to score more than 49 points to win this game.

JH will not come close to scoring 49 points on X...... X will not put 9 men in the box and give up the big play.

If the game goes deep into the 4th, you give the edge to JH for playing with them that long. The longer JH plays with X, the more confidence they will gain!

The weather could play a big role in tomorrow's game. With temps approaching freezing the ball gets slick and becomes harder to hold on too. This will be more of a factor for JH's slight of hand wing-T offense, (which they run very well), than St. X's straight ahead style of football. If St. X can hang on to the ball I think they can control the clock and get a few break-away TDs for the win.
