12-0 Boise and No BCS Invite?

Featured Replies

It was a horrible, horrible loss. But it doesn't mean that VT is not a talented and good team. This stuff happens in basketball all the time at the college level, though teams like James Madison are still D1, but its the same stuff.

Who is Oregon's signature win? Stanford, I would guess. Are you telling me that they are that much better than VT? I don't buy it.

Who is Alabama's? Auburns? TCUs? Oklahoma's? Nebraska's?

Now some of these teams play alot tougher schedule than Boise to the naked eye, but don't act like their win over VT (basically @ VT) is not as good as Oregon's win over Stanford home, Auburn's win over SC, Bama's win over UF, Oklahoma's win over FSU. If I'm not mistaken each of those teams "signature win" was at home to boot.

Yes, Stanford is heads and shoulders above Virginia Tech.

Auburn's best win is LSU, not South Carolina. LSU is much better than VaTech.

Nebraska's best win is Missouri. Also heads and shoulders better than VaTech.

I would not be so sure about any of those 3 being head and shoulders better than Va Tech.

Did you not watch the awful football game last night? You mean to tell me that team qualifies as good? God, I'd hate to see what a bad team looks like then.

NHS your bias is showing. I hate Boise State but I think they are at least 2 TDs better than Nebraska. The Black Shirt defense is overrated, and Nebraska is not that good when teams can crowd the box and force Martinez to pass. I like Pelini and Nebraska alot better than Boise, I don't think they'd be any trouble.

Im sure Im bias I wont fight ya on that one. It would be a great game imo but I dont think Boise would put up more than 21 points. Blackshirts overall arent as good as last year, but they are still good. They just dominated a very good Mizzou team with a good offense and what was supposed to be a good defense. They make good qbs look as bad as Carson Palmer (and we know what you think of him lol). Jake Locker, Nathan Enderle, and Blaine Gabbert which you could argue are all top 10 qbs in the nation all had easily their worst game of the season against NU. Boise could have success on the ground and I will admit I dont know a ton about their rushing attack.

As far as crowding the box and making Martinez throw the ball, go ahead. He's a good passer and has showed it the last 3 games. Should have beat Texas thru the air but his receivers had butterfingers that game and straight up dropped 3-4 td passes not to mention numerous others. They have caught the ball well since.

Would love to see this game but its super unlikely so we'll never know.

I agree, VT is just not good.

I was really high on the Huskers for most of the season, I think they are a year away though. I think they are a pretty good team, I just think Boise is in the really good team status.

I'm in the vast minority on this, but I love the current system and how the BCS is set up.

You know I'm not really against the BCS system and I think it does a pretty good job with the task presented. But it's flawed from the get-go because it assumes/allows only 2 teams to play for a title. That's okay in years like 2005 when it was obvious to everyone that USC and Texas were the two best teams. But it wasn't that obvious in '04 when Auburn was left out, or this season when it appears that Boise/TCU/Utah all have a legitimate claim.

Georgia Tech has played VT really tough under Paul Johnson.

Excuses excuses. Georgia Tech is bad this year. If VaTech was a good team that game wouldn't have been close. Not to mention it was just ugly football throughout, regardless of who was playing.

Because good teams never have a close game with an inferior team..........

Found this on another site a few minutes ago & thought I would repost. The RPI source is listed below, and I don't know much about them, but I thought this was at least something to talk about:

(RPI OF EACH OPPONENT LISTED. Strength of Opponent is determined by realtimerpi.com)

Team A Opponents (Strength of Schedule: 20)

#21: WON BY 3

#35: WON BY 13

#50: WON BY 43

#75: WON BY 29

#93: WON BY 45

#108: WON BY 48

#113: WON BY 59

Remaining Opponents: #24, #84, #45, #29, #98

Team B Opponents (Strength of Schedule: 45)

#14: WON BY 21

#40: WON BY 21

#64: WON BY 11

#77: WON BY 47

#91: WON BY 35

#105: WON BY 20

#148: WON BY 72

#209: WON BY 69 (1-AA Opponent)

Remaining: Opponents: #72, #56, #15, #35

Team C Opponents (Strength of Schedule: 15)

#23: WON BY 35

#35: WON BY 9

#51: WON BY 31

#61: WON BY 17

#85: WON BY 28

#92: WON BY 27

#93: WON BY 45

#114: WON BY 42

#184: WON BY 55 (1-AA Opponent)

Remaining Opponents: #5, #29, #148

Team A has played the most Top 50 opponents (3), while Team B and C have played 2 each. Overall, Team C has the best schedule, followed by Team A, then Team B. Team A is the only team to not play against a 1-AA opponent. And Team B played the worst 1-A team. So, naturally, Oregon has to be Team A or Team C, right?

Team A: BOISE STATE

Team B: OREGON

Team C: TCU

Have you not seen how many of those kind of games VaTech has had this season? They're 7-2 and 4 of their 9 games they've either lost or should have lost. One of which was to a pitiful excuse for a football team. If Virginia Tech is what they're hanging their hats on, the schedule is brutally bad. Simple as that.

Hey UKMF you still want to argue that Boise isn't better than Nebraska or Oklahoma? Good luck with that one after yesterday man .
