Any chance Marshall could get an invite?

Nope. WVU would veto it.

So why wouldn't USF veto Central Florida?

So why wouldn't USF veto Central Florida?

WVU already has a natural rival with Pitt. USF has no one in the conference to call a 'rival.'

What he said. That would be a guaranteed sellout every year regardless of record. We already hate them. It brings in another top 15 TV market, too.

Would this strengthen it, though?

In reality? No. But if they could add a highly ranked TCU, it would inflate their rankings even more. TCU has a lot to gain. They're perfect for the Big East & will get that BCS bid they're dying for. Personally, I'd take the automatic BCS bid away from the Big East.

I have said for quite sometime that the Big East needs to man up, and split off the basketball only schools. Football pays the bills, regardless of popular opinion. That said, TCU's travels wouldn't be much further, if at all, then they currently have in their current conference set up. Most people forget how spread out schools are in the West.

Really?

Here is how far TCU traveled this year for their schedule:

Ft. Worth to Arlington, TX: 17.4 miles (23 mins) vs. Oregon St

Ft. Worth to Dallas, TX: 37.8 miles (43 mins) @ SMU

Ft. Worth to Fort Collins, CO: 838 miles (14 hours 31 mins) @ Colorado State

Ft. Worth to Las Vegas, NV: 1,198 Miles (19 hours, 13 mins) @ UNLV

Ft. Worth to Salt Lake City, Utah: 1,223 miles ( 20 hours, 57 mins) @ Utah

Ft. Worth to Albuqerque, NM: 626 miles (10 hours, 19 mins) @ New Mexico

If TCU was to move to the Big East, they'd have to travel the following distances:

@ Syracuse: 1,545 miles (about 1 day, 1 hour)

@ Cincinnati: 969 miles (15 hours, 32 minutes)

@ South Florida: 1,135 miles (about 18 hours, 54 minutes)

@ Pittsburgh: 1,255 miles (20 hours, 31 mins)

@ Louisville: 870 miles (13 hours, 48 mins)

@ West Virginia: 1,242 miles (19 hours, 58 mins)

It looks like A LOT more traveling to me...

Which football conference will be better? The Mountain West, with Boise State, Fresno, UNLV and TCU, or the Big East?

The new Mountain West is as follows:

-Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego State, UNLV, Wyoming

The Big East would remain the same, with of course any additions to go along with TCU.

Here's why the Big East is a better league than the MWC: You are guaranteed access to the BCS bowls and the money that comes with. I know the BCS does a lot of saber-rattling about knocking conferences out and putting new conferences in, but until it happens I won't believe it. By going to the Big East, you don't have to hope for a spot because it's already guaranteed. By staying in the MWC, the advantages of adding Boise State are basically counter-balanced by Utah and BYU leaving.

You might could say it's better football in the MWC, but you can't say it's good business sense to stay there.

A Texas team in the B-East? Interesting. Other rthan TCU though, all of the schools mentioned bring down the already poor level of football in this conference. BCS status should be in question.

Why are you listing the travel time like they travled those long distances by bus or something?

Because Google Earth listed the travel time and I thought it did a good job of putting the distances in perspective.

Sorry? :idunno:

No reason to be sorry, I was just asking.

When you're on a plane, those distances aren't much different, IMO.
