When you're on a plane, those distances aren't much different, IMO.

 

You're correct that the actual time of the flight will not be much longer; however, TCU had 2 games that were less than 50 miles from their campus. That won't happen in the Big East.

And neither of those two games were conference games so what you're saying makes no sense at all.

Why not? The Oregon St. game was held at a neutral site. That game could have just as easily occurred had TCU been a member of the Big East. Same with the SMU game. It was an OOC matchup with a C-USA team located in the same general area. They could play ever year if they so choose.

 

The fact of the matter is that TCU is hopping on a plane to an away game with any of the current MWC members. Once your in the air there really isn't much differnce in travel, maybe an hour or so in the air.

I have said for quite sometime that the Big East needs to man up, and split off the basketball only schools. Football pays the bills, regardless of popular opinion. That said, TCU's travels wouldn't be much further, if at all, then they currently have in their current conference set up. Most people forget how spread out schools are in the West.

1st, I was responding to Rockpride's statement that TCU would not have to travel any farther if they were in the Big East. Clearly, they would travel farther.

 

In addition, they would have to fly to every road conference game (which they already do anyway). The Big East has a deal with ESPN for Thursday night football, right? That means TCU would have to leave on Wednesday (for a Thurs night game) at the latest. TCU would then have the option of flying home immediately after the game and getting home in the early morning, or they could wait until Friday morning. Either way, that is a lot of traveling for a college team.

 

The traveling would not be a big issue on the weekends, other than the fact that the flights will be a bit longer and likely more expensive. The money that TCU would make by joining the BCS would do more than offset that cost.

Every school generally leaves the day before the game, and flies home immediately after it.

With airplanes travel is a nothing. They are central time as well, so that won't be a hindrance either.

They MIGHT be on a plane 45 minutes longer on average than what they are already. It would be a non issue.
