The middle school was the old high school. The place is an airport hanger. If I'm not mistaken last year's districts were held at the middle school as well.

nkufan 88: Jordan Racke wasn't on the A team, he was maybe the 3 or 4th best player on the B team. He's not a part of the squad, his height just isn't there.

Why does Brossart have limited numbers? I know they have a transfer from Walton, but did they lose anybody other than seniors from last year?

 

Dont want to threadjack but I have heard that they have 3 sophs, 3 jr's and 3 Sr's and that some kids didnt come back out this year. I am also hearing they may play some freshman including the Burns kid (transfer from WV) and Nate Verst(top freshman in NKY). That is another thread though.

I'll reserve my comments about the impending demise of the Mustangs until the Brossart thread comes out.

 

The five year contract to hold the 37th District Tournament at the CC Middle School expired last year. There is some talk about rotating it among the schools and playing it on the various high school sites. I think this has been resolved and that it will be staying at the CCMS for another five year go-round. Maybe someone else could confirm.

This year's game as well as the next few will start to get very exciting with the emergence of the sophomore studs for both teams. McGovney and Saunders, former grade school AAU teammates, should be the go to guys for their squads. I think McGovney has the upper hand because he has a more complete game, but Saunders can score in bunches. McGovney's coaching staff will run an offense more suited to his style. When those are two are Junior and Seniors, we could be watching 2 of the top 5 players in the NKY area battling it out in Alexandria in the Crosstown Showdown.

 

Regardless of who wins this game, A majority of CCHS' season depends upon how well McGovney, and his coaching staff, will handle the defensive strategies from other squads AND how well his supporting cast can assist in adding points to the scoreboard.

This year will be tough. Scott should win the district and I give the edge to CC to make it to the region this year, however, you never count out a Code coached team. The next 3 years should find the regional representation for the district in Alexandria solely.

I'm not ready to discount the Scott Eagles for future consideration. Their freshmen did win the Northern Kentucky Freshmen title last year, and Coach Brad Carr has a knack for getting the most out of his available talent.

 

I think it will remain a three-way dog fight.
