He moved a car in a drive way that, I would guess, was very crowded. He didnt take off down waller at 75mph.

No, I know that. I want to know why the neighbor called the cops. If its just a ding, dont worry about it and have him give you some money. If it looks like a bowling ball went through the windshield then just tell the insurance company it was a hit and run.

If my car gets hit by a stranger, there is a decent chance I'm calling the cops as well. It depends on the damage though. It's hard to fault a guy who called the cops when that's the right thing to do, but point taken.

If he was under the influence, it's not a bad break at all. It was a poor decision on his part to move a car.

You go ahead and defend a kid that broke the law. I'll stick to my stance. I've said he deserves a second chance after his punishment.

1. He broke the law

2. I'm 99.9% sure him drinking would be a violation of team rules.

3. The article says there is "heavy" damage done to both cars.

If his BAC was .079, thats a bad break. But his was more than twice the legal limit. He never should have thought about getting in a car.

Yeah fraud the insurance company. That shows great integrity.

I guess i'm just a litttle different. If what I was told was true, he is unlucky and it is a bad break. I've made mistakes in my life and am far from perfect and find it hard to be so black and white on this.

I believe Roark is 21, so it's likely that he'd be able to drink on a Saturday night...

This young man is responsible for his own actions. The person who called the cops did the right thing. I can't stand today's "no narcing" mentality, that we should cover up illegal activities instead of reporting them. As a matter of fact, imo, this is one of the biggest problems with society today.

As it is, I like coldweatherfan's idea. Suspend the young man the rest of the year from games, allowing him to be part of practice, etc. Find additional ways to provide punishment. If he makes amends, allow him to play next year. There is nothing wrong with giving him a second chance. There is something wrong with giving him a free pass.

Personally, I would keep him on the team, but I would suspend him from play for the season. He is a Junior, he will have an opportunity to show he is humbled and sorry for his actions. He will come out and practice, he will support his teammates, and he will show remorse for his actions. If he handles those things appropriately and learns a life lesson then he can rejoin his team in full next season, and work to play at the next level. If he cannot handle the commitment of revitalizing himself, then he can move on.

The ball would be in his court. Which direction does he want to go?

I agree.

Being 21 doesn't have anything to do with my three points. He broke the law by moving a car under the influence. I'm sure Joker has some kind of rule about alcohol. Our's in college was 36 hours prior to any team function and it was the shortest on campus. Most of them were 48 hours.

FWIW, Roark's birthday was yesterday. I'm willing to bet he just turned 21. So his accident would have been while he was under 21, making it that much worse. If he's 22 now then someone can gladly correct me.

It's easy to be black and white. He made a mistake and should be held responsible for his actions. This DUI is not going to ruin his life...

He will get (and deserves) a second chance.

I didn't say he shouldn't be held responsible, I'm on record as saying he should be out for more than 1 game. I'm just saying that this situation is much different than a normal DUI and he was very unlucky.

After Matthews get suspended for a quarter and the receivers replacing them get called for a huge holding penalty in addition to a dropped pass in the first quarter, I'd say the team may want to consider a Code Red on Roark.

Ha ha, I watched A Few Good Men yesterday morning.
