NCC hosts Beechwood Saturday night at Newport Stadium. I believe game time is 7:00. This should be one of the top games in the state this coming weekend. What does everyone think?

I have no idea what either school has got to make a prediction but I know I would love to see this one. Two NKY Class A (NCC now 2A)rivals and traditional powers, both with great programs lined with state titles.

Did Kelly play last night? I didn't see his name in the box score. NewCath has trouble with quick backs on the perimeter. Their CBs have a tough time supporting the run. That said their OLine is a huge strength. NewCath will be able to establish the run and grind this out.

That matchup is without a doubt the key to the game. How will Beechwood handle the size of New Cath? The Beechwood D has a lot of speed and they fly to the ball but their D line has to hold their ground and tie up blockers, which will be a real challenge when they are giving up 50-100 lbs.

If NCC has trouble with speed backs, then that could be good news for Beechwood. They have the quickest back in N. Ky.

Kelly did not play and is questionable for next week. Hopefully he'll be back for the playoffs, would be tough for NewCath to beat a good team without their best player.

I hate to hear that. Get well Mr. Kelly!! Beechwood does not want to miss out on one last matchup with a Kelly!

This is our nkysports.com game of the week. We'll begin our pregame show around 6:45 and also be on the field for the coin toss.

You can watch it live either under our webcasts link or on demand. As I said last week, if you wanna tip back a few cold ones, head down to Beef's either during or after the game and catch it on the big screen.

As for the outcome, I look for this to be a very competitive game with Newcath's lines being the difference.

Breds will tote the rock all night and try to wear down the smaller Beechwood team.

I'll go with the following:

Newcath- 31

Beechwood- 21

From what I can recall from earlier this season, the NCC QB is good passer and even better runner. Kelly will certainly add to the arsenal but with or without him NCC will be tough for Beechwood to defeat with the NCC size advantage up front. Hopefully this will be a great game for both teams. Should be a fun one to watch.

Hightchew is a good passer but gets overlooked because of the amount of dropped passes that his receivers have had this year.

From what I understand there will be some changes on the d-line to put some beef up front.

I over heard Chris Kelly's father say is son is in the hospital with an elbow infection and is doubtful for the next couple of weeks. Whatever it is it must be serious if the young man is in the hospital. Shame he might miss the Beechwood game and maybe the first round or two in the playoffs

That is very disapointing news. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Chris. He is a very tough, hard nosed football player.

Personally, as a Beechwood fan, I hate that the Tigers will not be facing him. I want Chris Kelly on the field Saturday night at his best. Can't we push this game back behind a couple of these early ho hum playoff games? Oh well. Injuries are part of the game and every team has key players hurting at this point in the year. We'll just have to hope for a "miracle" recovery for Saturday.

Give it about 7 more seasons. Kyle is on his way. That's right, there's another one.

Another brother?!? Now that is a good Catholic family in the old tradition.
