At the time of his trade to the Nationals, Kearns had some value ... he was 26 and having a decent year, rebounding from some injury-marred seasons. He wasn't an all-star, but he had more value than the Reds got in return.

Pitcher Daryll Thompson, who some Reds fans latched onto as potential savior, only to find him wanting. The Reds also got Royce Clayton and Brendan Harris and gave up Ryan Wagner, who obviously disappointed in Washington.
