Pitcher Daryll Thompson, who some Reds fans latched onto as potential savior, only to find him wanting. The Reds also got Royce Clayton and Brendan Harris and gave up Ryan Wagner, who obviously disappointed in Washington.

 

Who did they get for those 3? This could go on and on.

 

It's hard to evaluate a trade without following all of the transactions.

At the time the Reds made the deal I would have done it if I were the Reds, but if they could trade back right now I'd take Hamilton in a heart beat.

Agreed but that doesn't mean they were "happy" to get rid of Hamilton. They weren't looking to dump him.

17 wins in 09 was impressive. If he can match that for the next couple of years it will have been a good trade for both.
