Holmes @ Dixie Heights Predictions

Featured Replies

Holmes will take their 6-0 record and head out to Dixie highway Friday night to take on the Colonels.

Dogs come in having put up 50 or more points the past 3 weeks.

Dixie is coming in off a 42-14 loss to the Bluebirds and a deceiving 3-4 record.

Can Holmes stay perfect? Or will Dixie show that their record is simply due to lack of competition?

BTW, this may or may not be our nkysports.com game of the week. (Depending on our connection tests at Ryle this week)

If so, you can catch it live or on demand at nkysports.com under our webcasts link or live at the Newport Beef O'Brady's on the big screen.

If I remember correctly Holmes came in to Dixie last year undefeated but did not leave that way. Dixie wins by two scores.

I don't think Holmes can stop Pike running the ball but I also don't see Dixie being able to stop Peterson!

Should be a very interesting game Holmes is rolling on both sides of the ball. Dixie keeps getting better every week, These two teams are very fimiliar they both run the spread O and the 3-5 defense. The one thing I think that will hurt Dixie is whats been hurting them all year they are not a very good conditioned team going against the speed of the bulldogs that keep coming at you. Holmes has several weapons if Dixie keys on Peterson they will get burned by everyone else. Should be a great game and a true measuring stick for Holmes.

This should be a very good game.

Holmes has great team speed on both sides of the ball which Dixie has struggled against this year. I'd look for the Dogs to use a similar defensive scheme that Highlands used to keep Pike in the pocket and force him to beat them with his arm, rather than his legs.

If Holmes can stay away from the penalties and mental mistakes that hurt them last year against Dixie, they win this game.

One thing's for sure...Dixie will be double covering Peterson all night. He absolutely torched them last year as a freshman.

I'm disappointed that it will be October 8th before anyone gets an idea if Holmes is any good or not. They may be the favorites to win the 4A championship. They may be pretenders. We simply do not know.

I think it will be a good game but in the end DH will be too much for the Dogs.

Holmes should take a lesson from Highlands' game plan this past weekend. They rushed 3 all night and as a result Pike was unable to get much space to run. Their game plan seemed to be keep Pike in the pocket and make him throw from there.

His 2 impressive throws (one across the field for a nice gain and the TD pass) were when he was scrambling. If Holmes can keep Pike in the pocket and make him throw from there, they have a good chance.

As for a prediction, Dixie's defense is improved from year's past IMO...

I'd be surprised if Dixie put up 35. Holmes' defense is very good this year.

I'm thinking this could be a pretty good game. I know Holmes schedule hasn't been all that strong and Dixie has played some very good competition up to this point.

If Dixie doesn't turn the ball over I see them putting up the "W".

Holmes 28 Dixie 20.

How many Holmes players are going both ways?

This game is all on Pike, running even more than throwing. Bruns is all about speed so I can see him struggling in this game with Holmes' speed on defense. My game plan if I were Dixie would be Pike running it right at the Bulldogs and balance that with quick slant passes in the middle and from the slot. Those passes will keep the Holmes LB from selling out on the run and maybe get some big plays. Run Bruns outside enough to keep them off balance and maybe get lucky on breaking one at some point. Roll Pike out on some pass plays so he can have a run/pass option. If Pike goes for 150 running the ball, then Dixie can control the clock and get the win.
