How many Holmes players are going both ways?

The only "true" 2 way players that Holmes has are Oden, Knox, and maybe Courtney.

They have a handful of kids that will play both ways in spurts...much like Dixie.

Last year Dixie scored on a flea flicker, dropped coverage by a LB and a muffed punt by Holmes deep in their territory. Holmes had trouble punching it in but had over 400 yards of O and they at twice as good on O this year. Oh and in the second half last year I don't think Dixie gained A yard on the ground. In fact not sure if they even had a second half first down. Can't wait to see how this one plays out!!! Watching Holmes speed on the turf for the first time all season should be fun to watch.

No predictions for me.

This should be a good one! May have to check it out since the Birds have a bye. Can we get a poll for this thread?

Dixie also didn't have Pike running the show last year on O. I think Holmes' O is indeed good enough to march up and down the field against this Dixie D, but I'd expect Spritzky to use Pike to control the clock on the ground and keep Holmes' O off the field.

All I keep hearing from EVERYONE though is how fast this Holmes' team is at every position. Speed kills. Should be a great game.

Holmes will take their 6-0 record and head out to Dixie highway Friday night to take on the Colonels.

Dogs come in having put up 50 or more points the past 3 weeks.

Dixie is coming in off a 42-14 loss to the Bluebirds and a deceiving 3-4 record.

Can Holmes stay perfect? Or will Dixie show that their record is simply due to lack of competition?

I think the bolded is the kicker here. Even though its appears at first glance that this is a no brainer, the record for Dixie should not be the measuring stick here. Other than watching Holmes against Highlands in 7 on 7 this summer which btw I was very impressed with the Holmes athletes and the willingness to learn and get better and the enthusiam of the coaching staff, I have not seen them in real game play.

Obvisously, the good things have carried over for Holmes to date as they have recorded an undefeated record. You dont just win em all doing bad things, winning is contagious and builds character and self esteem and I believe Holmes has that going on for them right now. On the other hand, I do know that Dixie is not as bad as their record indicates and I have predicted that they will beat CovCath this yr and they may even take care of business in Johnson Central.

If Dixie can avoid the emotional letdown of last weeks lost to Highlands and contain Holmes speed and quiet them early, Dixie could get this much needed win. JMO.

Why are they playing at Dixie again? No home-and-home?

Last year's game was moved to Dixie because it had rained all night and day before the game.

Holmes' field was a swamp on the sides, due to the crown in the middle, so they moved it to Dixie. This year is Dixie's turn to host.

Thanks. I forgot about that.

BTW, I know I mentioned it earlier in the thread, but we are heavily leaning towards this game as our nkysports.com game of the week over Ryle/SK.

I'll post for sure tomorrow morning whether or not we'll be covering this one live on the web and at Newport Beef O'Brady's.

What criteria do you guys use to decide which game to show? The most interest is in the 6A tilt.

The schedule is usually made up before the season begins.

We're aware of the interest in the SK/Ryle game, but due to the complications we've had the last two times at Ryle (internet connection), we have decided to use this game as our other option since it should be the second best game in nky this week.

We also try to cover as many different teams as possible. We will finish the season with Holy Cross @ Lloyd, Highlands @ Scott, and Beechwood @ Newcath.

Once the playoffs begin, we generally stay in nky but since we now have a deal with Ihigh.com, we may be able to broadcast the state championship this year as well if any nky teams are in. (Which we expect both Newcath and Highlands to be there)

After Pike left last week's game with what appeared to be a concussion, how is he doing? Has he practiced this week, and will he play this week?

Could a Mod add a poll to this one? Thanks.

This WILL be our Nkysports.com game of the week. Just got an email confirming it.

For those who can't attend, you can watch it live or on demand under our webcasts link or watch it live (or replay after the game) on the big screen at Beef O'Brady's in Newport.
