Any word on Travis Elliott

Featured Replies

No broken jaw. My son talked to him today at the JV game. He doesn't remember the hit at all. He did say that he was himself today and you wouldn't know it ever happened by the way he acted today. Let's just hope he is fully recovered before putting the pads on again.

I am glad to here he is ok!

Here is what NKY sports blog has said about the injury.

Travis Elliot had an outstanding performance last night against Campbell County as the Raiders squeaked out a win 35-30. Elliot had 235 rushing yards on the night to go along with three touchdowns, including one on the opening kickoff return.

However, it didn't come without a price as the Raiders' junior running back was blindsided after intercepting a pass by Campbell County's Tyler Durham. Ryle coach Bryson Warner would later call it one of the hardest hits he's ever seen.

Elliot was seen after the game icing his jaw and there were all types of rumors floating around last night and this morning about the severity of the injury.

A source has told me that his jaw is not broken and he is going to be ok, though he did suffer a concussion.

Best wishes to Travis on a speedy recovery.

Very tough kid, but can't imagine there's any chance he'll play next week. You just don't mess with concussion injuries. Second concussion syndrome is a scary thing.

I think one of SK's players has been out for 2 weeks now because of a concussion.

Good news for Elliott that his jaw is not broken. He's the heart and soul of the Raiders. If he is out for any length of time it would be tough on Ryle

Unfortunately I just spent the morning at ST E Sports medicine after my son got a concussion last night as well in the SK/Cooper game. Dr. Miller talked for about a 1/2 hour on concussions and I was amazed at some of the things he said. Too long of a story but the gist of it is the "public' perception of concussions has changed drastically since the NFL has made it a big issue. Their studies, along with experts out of Pittsburgh, says that teenage kids will recover quicker and not have lasting effects AS LONG AS they make sure all the symptoms are gone and pass some test before getting back on the field. There's more to it but I am relieved at what he said.

I hope the best for Travis as well as there is NO kid that works harder than him.

Listen to Mike, he is an outstanding Doctor and a great guy too. Here hoping your son will be fine and can play soon. Good luck and tell him that missing one or two games is much more important than playing hurt! The long term effect of playing and getting hurt worse isn't worth it but I understand that he is young and none of them think anything can or will ever happen to them or their friends!

He seemed like a very caring Doctor who took plenty of time with us. It doesn't hurt when they tell you they open at 9 and we were first in line!! All will be well in a few days.

Dr. Miller is fantastic. Very very passionate. Will take the time to explain and make sure you understand the injury you are seeing him for. Unfortunately, we have lots of experience in dealing with Dr. Miller over the past year and although we hope we never have to see him again but if we do, we couldn't ask for a better Dr.

Jaw is ok, likely a concussion and very very unlikely he plays against SK. I spoke with one of the refs from the game and he said it was the most violent (but legal) hit he's seen in his 29 years.

If there's one thing everyone can agree on, on this site - it's that no one likes to see a player get hurt. I hope the medical team and coaches follow the protocol and keep him out as long as necessary. On that note, I do hope he is able to return soon. Take care Travis.

I agree and I am very sure Dr. Divine and Ryle's athletic trainer will take everything into consideration. The nice thing is Ryle (one of maybe 5 schools in NKY who do use it) uses the ImPact program for concussions.

Great to hear he is ok. Hope he takes the time to heal completely before returning to the field. Good luck Travis.
