Here in Pike County we most commonly call them soup beans, although you will sometimes just call them pinto beans.

Beans...plain and simple lol.

My dad calls them lifesavers from people calling them that when he was a kid down in the mountains of S.E. KY.

Thank you! I HATE sweet cornbread! Give me corn bread and real butter and you can keep the beans.

They are known as soup beans here in Owsley County,and cooked with salt pork and served up with Corn Bread (not the sweet kind) an onion and a couple of slices of tomato,it is a feast. Also possibly the answer to any future gas shortage.
