You could cut 6A to 8 teams and it wouldn't change anything for 6A. It would still be T, X then everyone else.

Do we construct other brackets in a way in which the 2 best teams are going to meet in the finals? How many times do we say, "well the REAL championship game was played in the semi-final vs. this team?"

That would be the best solution.

 

But I think you seed the teams 1-16 come playoff time. The reward teams playing a tougher schedule. For example if you are a Class A school and you play a top ten 2A school it should be worth something in the seeding.

Old Raider-former Boone County head coach always said there should be one giant high school in Boone County located where Ryle is now.

 

As to the exception of a Boone County school district employee being able to send their child where they want if they provide transportation, that is where the school system loses me. They should operate it with the open enrollment idea like Kenton County.

 

No doubt if here was one or two huge high schools in Boone County they would be able to compete better with Trinity and X.

Ryle has exceeded the other Boone Co. schools in academics and has had far more recent success in athletics...not to mention the facility. The enrollment would not be equal and it would create a difficult scenario. The only problem with 6A is that it exists. The solution would be a super class and let the best and biggest play the best and biggest. Highlands, Bowling Green, Bell Co...give all of them the chance to play against T and X, every year.

Think about this. Football is affected more by the numbers then any other sport. One of if not the smallest current 6A schools is Apollo with about 680 boys. St X has 1450 boys giving them 770 more boys then Apollo.

 

Scott Co is the biggest 6A school not named St X or Trinity. Scott Co has about 1140 boys. St X has 310 more boys then Scott Co.

Don't put all of the eggs into the "enrollment basket".

 

Who would you favor in head to head competition? These schools (Bowling Green - 545 boys, Highlands - 425 boys, Boyle Co - 440 boys), OR, these schools (Dunbar - 1,073 boys, Henderson Co - 1,028 boys, Louisville Eastern - 1,113 boys)

 

Don't underestimate strong coaching staffs and a year in and year out commitment by the school and community to support the football program.

Right now, I don't see any reason for one school to try to be better than the others in academics, the track team or whatever. They are going to get those kids that are in their district regardless of the quality of their program.

Should not matter percentage of difference is what causes an inbalance. if its 100 to 200 or 1000- 2000 there are still twice as likely to get better athletes than the other. they might not be the studs the larger schools get but generally the talent differece is going to be that much better. 100% more to choose from is a 100% more , regardless.

The board will not allow it because it would create school enrollment size problems. There isn't a school in the district that is big enough to accomodate more than 1700. Open enrollment would created more students wanting to attend the same school than that school could accomodate.
