George Rogers Clark 2010/2011

Featured Replies

What does George Rogers Clark need to do to improve in 2010/2011? What do they need to keep doing to be sucessful? Remember, please be constructive.

I am very excited about the upcoming season. I think that GRC has the potential to win the state championship. A lot has to happen for them to accomplish this goal. They will need better guard play to go deep in the postseason. Also, we need to conquer that demon known as Mason County. No offense to the Royal fans.

Everyone I talk to here in Winchester agrees with you. This year GRC has several options at the guard position, so we should be strong there too. Along with all the height and talent of Zollo, Robbie Stenzel, Cory Rogers, Daniels, and Purvis should make GRC a top 3 team in the state. Bopper Stenzel and Adam Fatkin had a great AAU summer and should see alot of action along with Charlie Rogers and Vancleve.

I think GRC most defiantly has the talent in place to win and win big at Rupp..But can they beat Mason when it counts in the postseason?I'm not sure,Truthfully and mentally i think there not sure either!Good luck should be another fun 10th region season...

I think this GRC team will use last year like the Mason Co team did the year they lost to GRC in 2007. In 2008, they won state. Sometimes a loss is a great motivator.

GRC has a lot of talent and definitely should challenge for the top spot. I believe it will come down to their press offense and the ability to handle defensive pressure from baseline to baseline. Mason County always looms large in the region and will always pose a challenge at crunch time.

I thought last year they had a couple good JV guards, one of them was Stenzel's younger brother. If they can develop and help with ball handling, I think Clark Co. will be a load to handle.

Bopper didn't see much action last year as he was injured most of the season. He has had a super great summer in AAU and will play a big part in GRC's success this year.IMO. The way things are looking now, guard play will not be the factor it was last year.

I am so excited for ball season to start, I am going to enjoy the journey and ride. There will up some up's and downs with our schedule, it is brutal.

I think Clark's biggest challenge is going to be making sure to keep thier cool and calm when teams slow the pace of the game WAY down, get used to it, its going to happen!!!!!

I am sure that GRC will see alot of different defenses thrown at them this year. Montgomery Co tried this last year and it didn't work out for them. I think GRC's biggest challenge this year is they will have a "big bulls eye" on their back and have to be ready each and every game. With the schedule we have I can see some lumps in the road. We have Male, Lexington Catholic, Mason Co and Lafayette back to back. Also start out with Christian Co then Scott on the road the very next night.

GRC has to play smart ball this year. They have probably the best TEAM talent in the state. Montgomery County's plan would have worked if GRC had not been hitting everything in the 4th quarter because they definitely did not play smart ball. This is what came back to bite them against Mason County in the championship game when they had a 7 point lead.

I agree on both of the bolded. Again we will take some lumps this year, just hope it isn't in the post-season...

The Cards should be a lot of fun to watch this year.

They have one of the best front courts in the state with Zollo, Purvis, and Rogers, while also having one of the best backcourts in the state in Daniels and Stenzel.

Daniels is extremely underrated at the guard position, IMO. People think of his as a small forward because of him size but the kid has some serious ball handling skills. He could take a lot of pressure off of Stenzel this year.

The key to the Cards success this year though is their improved and added depth from last season. That was the one thing they were missing last year, but with everyone back this year, they should be able to finish stronger down the stretch.

Can't wait for hoop season to get here! :ylsuper:

Clark Co fans....buckle up and enjoy the ride this year. Should be a fun one.

This group SHOULD be the starters. They have put in there time. Even though Zollo is a transfer, he has worked hard for the approx. 2 1/2 years he has been at GRC. For a transfer to move in and disrupt the chemistry the seniors have could be a problem especially if Daniels is the one that gets benched. He has done everything the coaches have ask of him from PF as a freshman to SF as a sophomore to PG as a junior. And although they can say, "we are a team", each one of these seniors will be looking down the road at offers and they cannot be seen if they are on the bench.
