Congrats indeed to NCC and yes the Coaches for NCC showed a lot of class tonight by not allowing their players to try to score with around 15 seconds on the one or two yard line.

 

One thing to remember on those fumbles, CovCath did not force one of them if I remember correctly but even still, two of the fumbles resulted in TD's and a third fumble resulted in NCC a first down. Strange to have nine fumbles and not lose one of them..

 

My only question tonight was the punt that NCC kicked to CovCath #9 Brady Reese. Brady was waiting for the ball and before he got a chance to catch it #44 Hayes ran over him. Immediately the stripes threw a flag but then they returned the ball to the original line of scrimmage and then marked off the 15 yard penalty. I always thought a punt was a change of possession and the receiving player had a right to catch the ball (hallo) before he was hit, and the penalty would be marked off from the point of the receiving player receiving the ball. The call just seem strange to me

CCH forced one of them and on one was trailing the play and NCC recovered it. You must be mistaken on the rule. It appeared that CovCath had a choice and wanted them to punt it again. The refs discussed it with Troy Timmerman.

I checked and it looks like high school gives the receiving team the choice of 15 yards and a re-kick OR taking the ball at the spot of the catch.

If NewCath can stop shooting themselves in the foot, they have a chance to be very special. By the way, Eddie showed that he is not afraid to take a chance. Great play calling in crucial situations.

I must take note that it was a very warm and humid night and both teams had players who seemed to have the heat get the better of them.

Yes it was. NewCath has a tendency to wear down late. Too many kids going both ways and getting gassed. CovCath showed a lot of guts sticking around as long as they did. NewCath is a very good 2A team. CovCath is a very average 5A team.

Went to Beef O'brady's in Newport tonight for dinner. Looked up on one of the big screens, and watched the game live. Pretty cool to watch live high school football. Great job NKy Sports.

A late sack ny NCC and two drops by CCH kill their last drive and hopes of winning. NCC shows tremendous heart hanging-on with many key guys rarely coming off the field and CCH showing the potential to score any time on big plays. NCC's offense contolled the clock, the tempo and the Colonels. This year, NCC is the class of NKY Parochial HS Football. Congratulations on yet another win over a larger opponent.

NCC took the opening possession at their own 20. 10 1/2 minutes later they finished their drive with a TD. CCH's O didn't get the ball until 1:30 left in the first qtr.

Their O is fun to watch with the motion and misdirection. It's a running offense, but it is a lot of fun to observe
