Is there a maximum amount, and who determines what that number is? Is it a legal ordinance, Fire Marshal rule, based on parking availability, or what governs the sellout limit?

 

Please also note the name of the school, the seating capacity of the stadium, and the largest crowd you can remember attending a game there.

Somerset's Briar Patch seats several thousand on the home side (Stretches from 25 yard line to 25 yard line and is 35-40 rows high) and around 1000 on the away side. Most tickets that I know of being sold is around 4000-4500 for the Correll Bowl when all 3 local schools play there on the same night. With fans on the track, beyond the endzone and the big ol' bleacher I don't think we have ever been so full that they wouldn't let anyone in. Plenty of parking for every game except the bowl game and then some have to park as far as 1/2 mile away.

With most football in KY being outside I cannot see how they would not sell anyone a ticket.

Since most stadiums have fences around them and gates for entering and leaving, don't you think there would be some restriction on how many people you can put in a confined space?

I think it would be a difficult number to come up with since football stadiums have plenty of standing room space. I wouldn't want to be the fire marshal, I guess for them it's better to lowball the number.

Even though the venue is outside, it is enclosed and therefore has a fixed amount of space available for occupation by human bodies. You can only put so many sardines in a can. Surely there is some sort of rule for this. If for example it is the Fire Marshal or insurance company who establishes the rule, what criteria is used to determine the number (people per square foot of enclosed space or what)?

There may not be any or few Fire Marshals on BGP, but there are a lot of individuals here who are heavily involved with workings of high school athletic programs who could provide some answers.

I know it was an issue for the HHS v. Cincinnati St. X game that was played last year at David Cecil Memorial Stadium. The administrators determined the max # and were not permitted to sell any more than that. In fact, I know they had to get the list of the concession stand workers in advance of the game because that # counted against the overall max # of people allowed in the gates. Unfortunately, I don't know what the max # was.

If I had to guess I'd say with standing room probably 5,000 - 5,500 could fit comfortably. I have no idea "officially" as to the largest crowd but we had a nice crowd for the home opener this season. I'd guess 3,000 - 3,500 but I can't even score an 18 in the NKY pickem contest so I may be way off.
