Towles is the best Qb in nky this year and next year will likely be the best qb in the state, IMO.

 

After watching him run the QB draw in the Withrow game , he can run and pass very well. Seems like they ran the QB draw a lot , I'm just hoping he can stay healthy. Remember Bardo ?

He's got about 20 lbs on Bardo, and Bardo's injury was a freak one.

Correct, for freak injuries weight doesn't, but you would agree that being larger allows you to take more of a beating on your runs, thus delaying or even preventing certain cumulative injuries.

Towles has a big list of schools looking at him!

Coop ... I know Hempel gets talked up quite a bit and I haven't seen him, so I can't say one way or the other how good he truly is IMO. However, his stats leave a lot to be desired on the passing side of things. Under 50% completions; 2 TD's and 2 INT's. The Thompson kid at Boone has almost as many passing yards as him!

Thats why I don't rely totally on stats, stats can be misleading. If Hemple had more wepons to throw to you would see better stats. With the running game Rlye has it's a shame they don't have a better passing game???

True, stats are just an indicator and don't tell the whole story. But I was shocked to see Thompson's stats not that far behind Hempel's. Ryle will not be a serious post season threat unless they get more out of the passing game, even with Elliott at RB.

As others have already stated, stats are misleading. First off, Ryle has only played 3 games. Quite a few teams have played 4. And in one of the games (blowout of CCH) it was so one-sided there was absolutely no reason for him to throw. Secondly, Ryle has the top RB in NKY. They are a obviously a run-first team and this affects his opportunities. Thirdly, Hempel is now working for his third offensive coordinator and has an entirely new set of WR's he is working with, not to mention the ones he lost last year (Fugate, Eubanks, Nichols) were pretty darn good. The passing game is still a work in progress.

 

He's good, I promise you. He has a strong arm, he is a very good runner, and makes good decisions. He and Towles are similar. The have similar arm strength and both are fine runners. I give an edge to Hempel in experience/decision-making and an edge to Towles in size. No question that Towles will only get better and be an absolute force next year. But to say he is currently "by far" better than Hempel is wrong and a bit of Highlands bravado.

He and his "entire" wide receiving core average over 20 yards per pass play! He has good speed and once again proved that he can run the ball this past Friday night. He led his team to a state championship as a sophomore. His team has yet to lose under his command. He is coachable and loves to learn. He works with his receivers outside of practice. The number of recruitment letters that he gets keeps the post office busy. He's a great student and great kid in the community. He's five games into his junior year and he is one of the best in the country.

OK, I guess I am going to play devil's advocate today. So here are some thoughts on Towles. I believe he is the beneficiary of the Highlands program and system. He generally gets as much time as it takes to find a receiver because of his great pass blocking line. He gets to throw more long balls in one game than most QB's do in half a season because that is the Highlands offensive strategy ... send the speed deep and throw it long to stretch the field. He has top receivers with speed, hands and route running. So I think he is going to look great like almost every Highlands QB does because of the system and program. That being said, he is still at the top of the list for me of the QB's I have seen but not by as wide a margin as others may have him.

Here is a list of schools looking at Chad Lawrence Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, Holy Cross, Indiana State, Middle Tennessee, Ohio, and Wofford.

where did you get this list for Towles? I don't see it. His ball floats too much, and not a real compact delivery. I hope he proves me wrong, but i see him playing DII maybe a MAC school.
