September 3, 201016 yr Costing his team a run has nothing to do with it. Why is it not ok to plow the catcher? When is it ok? He took out one catcher when the catcher was not even blocking the plate. The catcher actually got out of the way when he did it.
September 3, 201016 yr From a Marlins fan: I think him plowing the catcher is part of the game. Him getting hit in retaliation is part of the game. Gaby defending Volstad is part of it and honestly I'm cool with him throwing some punches once the clothesline was applies to. Morgan's actions after the fact were uncalled for and made me even happier that Gaby laid a few on him. Also to ColonelCrazy, I don't want my star player getting into the middle of a pile. If he was involved in the initial scrum I'd be fine...but no reason for Hanley to jump in there at that point.

If I'm wrong and he was safe I made a big mistake. I think the goal of plowing a catcher should be to score the run. His goal is to plow the catcher because he's a punk. Big difference in my book. He proved in St. Louis that he wasn't interested in scoring runs.

I think he completely missed home plate...again. Either way, he runs into the glove. If he slides the catcher has to tag him and he'll never reach him in time.

There wasn't much room for him to touch the plate. 90% of the slides at home now a days are to the back side of the plate where they just slap the plate with their hand. His foot wouldn't have been touched. Not that big of a deal but he definitely looks like he's more worried about making contact with the catcher than he does scoring the run.

Agreed that no way may not be right, but I'm convinced he had a better chance at scoring if he slid outside. Also, I can't see his team mate in the Marlins replay but clearly in the Cards game Pudge motioned twice to slide outside. The point is the goal should be to score the run. His goal is obviously to hit the catcher. Both times the easier way to score IMO was sliding outside esepcially where the throw was coming from. He's a punk.
