Track the Reds (2nd Half, Week 6)

You don't have to hand feed me anything. It still says that he must be on the 25 man as of August 31st and a man on the 60 day DL is NOT on the 25 man roster.

Here’s the deal on playoff eligibility:

To be eligible for a team’s playoff roster a player must be on either a) the 25-man active roster, b) the disabled list, c) the bereavement list, d) the suspended list as of Aug. 31 at midnight.

If an eligible player is injured and unable to play a club can call up any player in the organization regardless of their roster status, provided the replacement player was in the organization as of the Aug. 31 deadline and they finished the season in the organization, and they receive approval from the commissioner.

In the Reds case, Jose Arrendondo and Mike Lincoln are on the 60-day disabled list and not in the playoff plans. Aroldis Chapman could replace one of them. Someone else — Jason Isringhausen? — could replace the other.

What more do you want?

Let me clear this up. Chapman will be up on Sept. 1st and will be playoff eligible.

Yes if they want him to he will be.

You have to wonder how the Reds would use Volquez if came playoff time and we were in it. Right now he just doesn't get deep enough into games to make it worth it IMO. Would they have him in the pen?

What did you want me to say? With all you so called friggin experts on here did you want me to bow down and kiss your feet. I wish I was half as smart as some of you on here think you are.

Why let the facts get in the way?idunno.gif

Most of us simply went off what Jockety said and trusted it. You went ahead and looked it up for us and it confirms how it would be possible for them to bring him up on the 1st and still be on the playoff roster.

Solid...

Chapman is 3-1 with a 2.77 ERA in relief. He’s struck out 41, walked 12 and allowed 15 hits in 26 innings as a reliever.

Stubbs clearly touched 3rd there.

Yeah Paul, Rolen was trying to move Stubbs to third with 2 outs.

Johnny Popup ends the inning.
