August 18, 201016 yr It's a good thing for the Reds that Janish hasn't found out that he isn't any good and would drop them to the bottom after Cabrera got hurt.

August 18, 201016 yr Guy can't hit a lick, can he? I've always liked Janish, and was confident when Cabrera went down that he would step up and fill in more than adequately, and said as much on here. I don't think his bat is nearly as bad as most have given him credit for over the past couple years, but I also don't think he's got the stick to be an everyday guy either. He's perfect for the role he's in right now, filling in when a guy goes down for a couple weeks.

August 18, 201016 yr There are a lot of guys that came into the season as backups and have stepped up big time for this team. Not saying they are, but that's what championship teams have to have.

August 18, 201016 yr I had no doubts that Paul would fill in very nicely. If anything, he is an upgrade defensively. Also, it seems like he has picked up on something this year that has made him more confident at the plate. His OBP is very good and he has a little pop in that stick at times, too. He has been very solid in the time he has played this season. I can't name too many teams that have as good a replacement at shortstop than the Reds have in Janish.

I agree completely... Heisey, Nix, Cairo, and Janish have been great. Plus Hernandez and Hannigan have been a great duo, with Corky adding some decent relief.

August 18, 201016 yr Cardinals and Brewers tied 0-0 after 3.... "Who's winning?" "The Bears" -Ferris Beuhler's Day Off.
August 18, 201016 yr Heisey goes from starting in CF to bench player once again, after the Edmonds trade. I wish he would get some starts. Go Brewers!
August 18, 201016 yr Well I just read the posts from during the game last night & I can say (again) that so many of you overreact. Let them play the game. I realize that the Reds haven't been this competitive in a long time, but there are still 30+ games to play & a single inning isn't going to be doomsday. Enjoy it & accept the fact that no Reds player will hit 1.000 nor will any Reds pitcher shut every team out...
