Because I have no college classes this summer and I have way too much free time, I pulled up Wiki and just looked at the history of the Cubs and Reds.

 

Since they became the Chicago Cubs in 1902, they have had 55 losing seasons. I guess we can go ahead and likely say 56 if you count this year.

 

Since they became the Cincinnati Reds in 1890, they have had 58 losing seasons.

 

I believe the Cubs longest stretch of losing seasons is 10, the Reds longest stretch is 11 I believe.

 

It's amazing how perception changes when you actually win a title. The Reds have finished the job when getting to the post season and we are all well aware of what's happened to the Cubs.

I am a life long REDS fan and Cub Hater, that said I expect the Reds to begin their yearly downward spiral right afer the All-Star break. I hope that I am wrong, but history tells me to look for them to drop out of contention. As for the Cubs, the article is correct in the comparisons they make. But if you base it on wins versus payroll the Reds would compare favorably to the Yankees.

 

But I do LOVE IT when the Cubs suck!!!

Cubs are a bad team and its time to blow it up and start all over. Derrek Lee just hit into another double play.

 

I'd like to see Hendry gone. Lou needs to retire. Maybe bring Brenly down out of the booth to manage.

 

Jettison Lee, Ramirez, Zambrano, Fukudome, and Theriot.

 

The team just doesn't mesh well and it's obvious.

 

Who is going to take on the contracts for Lee, Ramirez, Zambrano or Fukudome?
