Insight Cable

Featured Replies

Got a call last week from Insight saying they have to check the cable for each house. The lady came last night and informed us that by the first of the year EVERY TV in the house would have to have a high def box, or none of the TVs would work. At 8:00 per TV per month, that adds another $40.00 on an already high bill.:madman:

Who has a dish and how do you like it? I know nothing about sattelite TV, but we are definately going to look into it.

We have satellite in Fla. and if you have a storm, you could lose your picture.

I talked to someone who has a dish and they have the same problem.

I will be changing to Cin. Bell.

Right now CinBell partners with DirecTV is most areas for TV service. Some places in the tristate are starting to get the new FiberOptics that Cincinnatil Bell is rolling out but it's not out in many places yet.

I have Insight Cable but haven't heard anything about this...

If it's true, I'll be switching in a heartbeat.

I just called Insight and got a different story.

Starting in August they are going to start moving some channels off of analog and over to Digital. By January all of the channels will be digital.

If you have a DVR already you're fine. Nothing needed.

If you're like me and have a DVR on on but not the others you will need an adapter. The first adapter is free for 2 years. The additional adapters are $1.50 per month.

Without either a DVR or an adapter you will start losing channels in August.

I have been fed up with Insight for a while now. Prices just went up to $15 for the "lease" fee for the HD DVR box. After the $6 price increase at the beginning of the year. Just went up another $3 last month. Maybe they would not have to raise prices 14% this year if they did not waste so much money sending me a different version of the same expensive marketing material talking about "Insight Phone 2.0" once a week... I would guess they have spent $50 bucks year to date on postage alone with all the garbage they send me, and it is the same offer. I guess after I did not accept the offer after the 14th attempt they figured another 20 tries might work...

Interesting, the lady who came to our house didnt mention that at all. What does a DVR have to do with it?

If you don't have "hardware" then you need some. It can be a DVR or the adapter I mentioned.

Cincinnati Bell is in Ft Wright now, when it comes here, we are getting rid of Insight! I enjoy the local programs such as the sports, but Insight is going crazy on these rates.

Hopefully the success of CB as it spreads will force Insight to lower its rates. I like Insight and have never had a problem with them (other than prices).

I left Insight a few months ago, they raised the rate on there non high def boxes as well. I am with Direct now and I like it but last two nights of storms ive lost signal for a bit. My brother has Cincy Bell over in Erlanger and likes it a lot.

Don't be too hasty, LOTS of problems with Bell's fiber optics.

We have already started losing channels. I can no longer get the Golf Channel on any TV except our living room which has a DVR. There are a few other crap channels that we have lost as well but the Golf Channel is the only one I care about so far. I wondered what was going on. I guess we will have to look at getting the adapters.

Such as? I have heard nothing but good things.
