June 11, 201016 yr These are all of the "can't"s. Do you have any "can"s? What do you suggest be done to aid in economic recovery? Not copping out, but I truly don't have the time today to get into all the do's to get our economy back on it's feet. In short, I would refer you to the vision of smaller government, reduced spending, reduced taxation, greater individual freedom, a strong military under Ronald Wilson Reagan. There is a God, and He has made it clear we will never have a true Utopia on earth apart from Him. It's time for our nation to repent, kick out the power hungry that think they know better how to do everything, but have no real world experience doing anything but running for office and promising to take care of everyone. We need to get back to the hard work of freedom.

I wasn't exactly in tune with politics in the years 80 to 87 but I don't remember the "reduced spending" part. I remember a great increase in tax revenues but also remember deficits and debt increases.

June 11, 201016 yr Obama wants more unemployment is a fact? Hmmm...we will have to disagree with the definition of the word "fact" then. No he doesn't But it is FACT that they are using census jobs to make it look as if the economy is better than it really is.
June 11, 201016 yr No he doesn't But it is FACT that they are using census jobs to make it look as if the economy is better than it really is. All I saw were the actual numbers. There was no anchor, newscaster or president interpreting them for me. How do you suggest that the unemployment numbers be presented? Should we NOT add in the 411,000 census jobs? Should we pretend that those jobs don't exist? Should there be a * with a disclaimer?
June 11, 201016 yr Really? You think he wants more unemployment? BTW...I heard that unemployment numbers were down considerably last month. Just a thought on this. If I'm on extended unemployment and whatever other gov't program I can recieve. Would I really consider voting for a Republican or Libertarian? Doubt it...
June 11, 201016 yr These are all of the "can't"s. Do you have any "can"s? What do you suggest be done to aid in economic recovery? A few things that could be done would be to cut the corporate tax rate at least in half. Offer tax incentives for expansion and growth. This country has got to make it attractive for companies to locate and expand in the US.

What's unemployment now? 10%? He's going to win re-election based off of those folks which a good portion of them would never vote D anyways? If it stays @ 10% do we really think he's going to have a strong platform? In other words, I ain't buying what you're sellin'.

I see his point.

As to unemployment being 10%, well it's been that high for the duration of his presidency. He really hasn't done anything to better that #. Plus it doesn't seem that the unemployment issue is on the radar as a make or break plank in his platform. Illegals, the oil problem, escalating situation in Gaza, and now unfortunately to a lesser extent the war far outpace unemployment when it comes to what is being percieved as the hot issues. Again, I am a straight line Republican, but come next election I was out of work and was on the dole, why would I bite the hand that feeds me? Just a thought

That a hard working American currently "on the dole" (trying his best to get off the dole) will starve to death if he votes republican? If our government keeps getting deeper and deeper in debt at the pace it is going right now, we will all be on some kind of "dole". The line will HAVE to be drawn sooner or later. Which will work out for the best, sooner, or later?
June 11, 201016 yr But have you been or are you in the situation stated? Just saying. I see his point. Have been. Not now. It would not have one iota of importance to who I vote for.

Just a thought If unemployment would stay at a high level President Obama will be former President Obama. No one wants to run on "stay unemployed - we'll take care of you." Illogical. Voters will always vote based off of economics whether their belief is true or not. Without a bad economy we'd have President McCain.
