June 11, 201016 yr Author Why are they wasting time on this kind of legislation when the country has more pressing needs and problems??
June 11, 201016 yr I guess Obama wants even more unemployment... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100610/ap_on_bi_ge/us_greenhouse_gases Really? You think he wants more unemployment? BTW...I heard that unemployment numbers were down considerably last month.
June 11, 201016 yr Author Really? You think he wants more unemployment? BTW...I heard that unemployment numbers were down considerably last month. Hardly.. The hire numbers where propped up by adding 411,000 census workers.. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/hiring-weak-in-may-except-for-census-workers-2010-06-04-83100

Only 40,000 or so jobs grown in the private sector. Obama failed to mention that 411,000 of those people would be unemployed in the next few months. Just more smoke and mirrors. People are still hanging on every word he says...Amazing.
June 11, 201016 yr Got to love the hyperbole. A lot of what is posted on here is hyperbole to a point, but what has been posted is FACT.
June 11, 201016 yr A lot of what is posted on here is hyperbole to a point, but what has been posted is FACT. Obama wants more unemployment is a fact? Hmmm...we will have to disagree with the definition of the word "fact" then.

June 11, 201016 yr Got to love the hyperbole. I love ya TB&G, but I don't see the hyperbole in stating facts. If anything, an objective observer would identify the hyperbole in proclaiming 400,000+ new jobs as a big improvement when over 90% are short term 3-6 month Census jobs, most often at a lower wage than what many Census workers were earning before they were released from their former jobs. "(EPA Administrator Lisa) Jackson denied the argument of critics that the EPA rules would impose devastating costs on small businesses and farmers, resulting in major job losses. The EPA added a provision that exempts small sources of pollution from the regulations for six years." Yet again, here we have what may otherwise be a bright individual bureaucrat with no depth of understanding for how private industry/business functions “denying” the objections of those actually operating private businesses. She truly believes the six year offset is a magnanimous and encouraging gesture by an all powerful government. This is no consolation for genuine business people who regularly plan in five, ten and twenty year outlooks. Few are going to hire "full-time" workers and boldly grow in an environment that assures they are going to get hammered in the near future, with no better options or incentives (only threat of punishment for not complying) for changing how they do business. BHO and his WH are spinning their hoo-haas off trying to put a positive spin on genuinely bad news that is their direct fault. Crowing about 400,000+ new jobs when everyone knows that only about 10% have any hope of lasting more than three months is outright deception of the ignorant. That is not leadership... it's propaganda to prop up ineffective leadership… in the hope enough genuinely ignorant citizens will continue to buy into the spin and vote for continued ineptitude wrapped in personality. A TRILLION dollars of stimulus (our tax dollars) distributed by a kind and benevolent government has done nothing to repair our ailing economy. Actual business people understand you never get something for nothing. Instead of encouraging and rewarding "the rich" for taking risks with "their" wealth to grow businesses, innovate and create new jobs... it is VERY CLEAR they are under attack by this current regime who for all appearances seem to believe the wealth of the wealth was obtained dishonestly and unfairly. Only fools rush in to pony up under these conditions. The wise pull back and hope to weather the storm. Two years in and he's still blaming Bush when he has overwhelming majorities in both the House and Senate. He should be able to push through any legislation he wants... a 2,000 plus page HC reform bill few actually took the time to read and understand before they voted for it against resolute resistance from those who did understand the foolishness of such actions is proof of this fact. The problem is that BHO's liberal ideology cannot see how detrimental his policies are to businesses and genuine economic growth. Bigger more intrusive government has NEVER EVER been the answer to true prosperity for individuals in a genuinely FREE society. There may be some individuals who need a BIG BROTHER in DC to take care of them, but that is not how this country was built or ever achieved any measure of greatness.
June 11, 201016 yr Obama wants more unemployment is a fact? Hmmm...we will have to disagree with the definition of the word "fact" then. Whether BHO "wants" more unemployment or not is not the point. The fact is, his actions based upon his ideology and leadership have led to expanding the crater our economy is in at this very moment... and the increase in joblessness for many Americans. One Trillion dollars of stimulus by the geniuses running our nation have done little if anything meaningful to pull us out of the pit.

I love ya, too, Fastbreak , but much as RTS stated in his thread, I'll decide what I think my "point" is and you can do the same with your "point." That President Obama "wants" more unemployment is the very definition of hyperbole...which IS my point. Additionally, I will be optimistic with any sign of an improving economy. It might be fleeting, it might be a false front (which, btw, none of you pointed out that the numbers could be dropping due to some people running out of their state unemployment benefits), and the numbers could indeed fall sharply south. You talk about what our country was built upon. I chose to believe that optimism is more powerful than negativity. Instead of focusing on all of the "can't"s and "won't"s, I'll cautiously look toward the positive signs.

I tend to be very trusting until someone proves they are not trustworthy. For many reasons, you cannot operate and grow a business effectively on "optmism" and "hope" alone. Multiply this by several tens of thousands, and you may begin to understand why our economy is not recovering... much less, is not growing.

Do you have any "can"s? What do you suggest be done to aid in economic recovery?
