Bryce Harper Unanimous Projected # 1 Pick to the Nationals

I see.. not sure how I feel about that. Many pro athletes have blown 100 million dollar contracts. Hope he has a good supporting cast.
I'll take a GED and two years of JUCO (which could be enough for an associates) over an extra two years of H.S.

Harper had zero competition at the H.S. level and it was a total waste of his time to play there. Hell, he TORE up the JUCO league he played in as well.

Something I noticed on the multiple youtube videos. No matter how far he hits the ball, he always is sprinting out of the batter's box. He doesn't try to show anyone up. From the stories written, he sounds like a good kid. One thing is for sure, he can rake.

Like I said many pro athletes once had millions and now have nothing. More money = more problems. Hope he is wise enough to invest it correctly. And he should have torn up HS and a Juco league for as good as everyone is saying he is.

I guess we've read different stories.

The Makeup: This should not be underrated. It's impossible to find any talent evaluator who isn't blown away by Harper's ability on the field, but it's equally difficult to find one who doesn't genuinely dislike the kid. One scout called him among the worst amateur players he's ever seen from a makeup standpoint, with top-of-the-scale arrogance, a disturbingly large sense of entitlement, and on-field behavior that includes taunting opponents. "He's just a bad, bad guy," said one front-office official. "He's basically the anti-Joe Mauer."

I know that many now have nothing. But the point I"m trying to make is that two years of college trumps two years of HS as far as I'm concerned.

Young Bryce's college career ended with getting tossed out of the game for showing up the ump. Go to 1 hour 35 minute mark in the video. The pitch looks to be 8-12 inches outside. I get the feeling the umpire enjoyed this

How can you tell from that grainy video? 8-12 inches? Really? From that video? That's some impressive eyesight dude.

That was a very quick hook, unless he said a magic word.

Couldn't tell if he said anything but he swiped his bat in the dirt where he thought the pitch was.

I guess we've read different stories.

So much for that. :irked:

Do you think it was remotely close to being a strike dude?

Based on the character description above, it sounds like Harper found the perfect agent to represent him.

There are just certain acts that are automatically going to result in getting the ol' heave ho.

Drawing a line in the dirt to show how bad the call was would be one of those acts.

I never said it was a strike. It looked outside. But I have no clue from the video exactly how far outside it was

I agree
