9th Region Tournament at Champion Window Field

Featured Replies

How do you get to the Champion Field if you are coming from the Double A Highway?

Follow AA all the way to I-275. Take I-275 west towards airport. Take I-71/75 South. Take the exit for SR 42. Take left off exit. You can see the field to south. Make right at street next to BP gas station and it runs you right into stadium.

Best case scenario for Bellevue to draw opposite Dixie,HC and Conner.

Seriously? I think CovCath wins easily in this one. Maybe not, but just my opinion. I say CCH 7- Bellevue 1. A run per inning for CovCath with their small ball.

What day are the semifinal games played?

Brackets worked out pretty nicely actually.

I would rank the teams:

1. Dixie

2. Boone

3. CCH

4. HC

5. Conner

6. St. H

7. Bellevue

8. Newport

Conner/HC game is very interesting. It'll be intriguing to see who they each throw in this game.

I realize this is your own personal opinion but I don't see how you can rank Holy Cross behind CCH at this point.

Also, they've moved the championship game to 11 am on Sat. Nothing says regional finals like bp at your school at 8:30 am!!

I think some of the coaches have had enough. It's great for the fans and parents out there but more and more coaches have had it.

Wouldn't be the first time nor the last time that the buffoons with the Florence Freedom have done something that hasn't went over well with people. Are there any "good" fields that the regional could be played at so you won't have to deal with that bunch anymore?

Wow...Clint Brown has done a great job turning around the mess that was left him when he bought the team. I think people should be more appreciative of him allowing the 9th region to have their tourney at Freedom Field. I'm sure some people would complain if it was at GABP.

Do you have to buy seat tickets for this game or is it buy a ticket and sit anywhere you want?

Get on I-275 West and continue on until you reach Interstate 75/71 South Louisville/Lexington exit.

Go South on the Interstate until you see the Florence Y'all water tower and then exit at the US 42/127 Florence Union exit. At the Red light turn left (North on US 42/127) and cross over the Interstate (you will see the ball park on your right along side the Interstate as you cross over the bridge. At the first red light (BP gas station) turn right and this road will take you directly into the ball park.

My guess is about 15 minutes or a bit more drive once you get on I-275. If you have ever been to the Florence Mall then you know where you are going!

General Admission tickets and you can sit anywhere but the upper deck behind home plate! I think 5/6 Dollars but for that on Monday, you can see 4 games. No food or drinks allowed in.

Great place to watch a baseball game!

While Mr. Brown has been kind enough to allow the Ninth Region to be played at Champion Window Field I think a lot of people forget it is indeed a field built with Public Funds (Tax Dollars) by the City of Florence, Ky. So........

Since there are no games at Champion Window on Tuesday, couldn't they play there on Tuesday if any of the games get rained out on Monday?

Certainly very close and I wouldn't strongly argue against switching them, but I give CCH an advantage due to playing a tougher overall schedule and in coaching.

I always find the pitching decisions by the coaches to be very interesting in these tournaments. Always the question of whether you start your ace to (help) ensure you have the chance to play the next round or whether you throw #2 so that you have #1 available for the next bigger game. We've seen situations on both sides in the past where a team was eliminated with their ace sitting on the bench and also times when a team advanced to the next round, but had no realistic chance given they had used their top pitcher to get to that game. Certainly leaves a lot of room for Monday Morning QB'ing by us BGP'ers. Exceptions to every rule and certainly other factors come into play, such as opponent and how big a drop it is from your #1 to your #2, but I've generally always been a believer that you throw your best to advance, as it's tough to win the next game when you're not playing in it. That being said, of course, there are certainly exceptions - I don't see Dixie throwing Smallwood against Newport when their next round opponent will be a tough Holy Cross or Conner.

It's certainly an option with the next game not being played until Friday. Very doubful that he would throw entire game but why not use him? The bigger decisions come Fri/Sat IMO. And as we know, there are no free passes to advance in this tournament.

I totally agree for all the teams and not just Dixie!

Choosing your pitcher on Monday will be easy, as you go with your ace but Fri/Sat? BTW the window gets smaller for your ace to pitch two games, if rain plays a part in games not being able to played on Monday or Tuesday!

My only problem with using Champion Window are the games being played at different times on the same day. If the weather holds and the first game is played then other teams are at an disadvantage if rain cancels out any of the other games that day!
