My experience with the Freedom is similar to Statman, although I have never been employed there. I don't think the baseball is all that good. I like the promotions, but they are tiresome.(too many) As others have said it is a business and I respect that, but they do seem to walk that line of always wanting good publicity, as if they are doing something wonderful for the community. I don't think that organization does one thing without making a buck, and again I don't have a problem with that, but I think they get a free pass from the media as if they are doing something for all of the public. I am sure they are making money on the 9th region tournament or it wouldn't be there.

 

Some of their promotions like letting the kids be on the field before the game with their players are nice, but teams pay for that privilige. If they are making money, then the Freedom will stay, if not, I could see them being sold very easily. Now that doesn't mean they will move.

 

If you feel like they have too many promotions then it is obvious you have never been to a independent league baseball game other than theirs. And most definitely never worked with an independent league team. The promotions are what every team at their level use to entertain fans and they are all mostly sponsored as to keep the organization afloat. It's the life of independent baseball.

I have never worked there as I said before, but yes I have been to several other minor league games. I think the facilities the Freedom have are great. The baseball is terrible. I get the business portion of what you are saying, but I can only handle the corny promo stuff so much. At some point the main product-baseball-has to be good too, or folks like me stop going.

 

You seem to be connected-are the season tickets being sold at a faster pace for 2010 than they were in 2009?

Of course the baseball is terrible. It's the Frontier League. It is a league for guys that didn't go D1 or have the ability to play in the minor leagues.
