May 4, 201016 yr Where is the IZOD Center? It's the new arena in Newark, New Jersey. The New Jersey Devils play there, as does Seton Hall. The Nets DO NOT play there, though.

May 4, 201016 yr Coach K and Duke love the Jersey area. He has it figured out. Neutral site games in Chi town, NY/NJ...there are many reasons they have been the cream of the crop and this is another example of it.

Duke is good because Coach K is good at coaching and he has good players. I think true road games in the non-conference better prep a team for conference games and build toughness, but there are a million ways to skin a cat.

Duke played 2 non-conference true road games this year(Wisconsin and Georgetown....both losses) and ended up splitting the ACC Regular Season Title, won the ACC Conference Tournament and won the 2010 National Championship. I think those two road games actually prepared them mentally for the road game against Baylor in the Elite 8 and the road game in the National Championship against Butler. I do think that Coach K has some things figured out which can help a team's growth and success and while he puts them on the path to succeed it is still up to the players to execute on the court. This year's team did an excellent job of everyone executing their roles whether it be the Plumlee's and the Zoubek/Thomas rotation or the ability to run their offense without a "true" point guard.

How many of those "good players" would you have started at UK this year? I agree that true road games are valuable, but I believe kids also like the idea of playing in Chicago and the New York Metro area just to name a couple. I think Cal recognizes this as well with his proposed neutral game sites...at least I hope so. I think it helps. You get enough tough road games in conference. There are a lot of teams that have good coaches and good players and sadly don't match up to what Duke has been able to accomplish.
