May 2, 201016 yr 2 of the 5 freshman had 1.6 and 1.7 GPAs. Not unusual GPA's for freshman, whether they play ball or not. And by the way I could care less what their grades are.

This is just something that's going to happen. Correct. The NBA has set this up and schools that bring one one-and-dones are going to suffer in the GPA measure.

May 2, 201016 yr I love how the article tries to blame it on the transition from Billy G. I mean the man had only been fired for 5 months when the fall semester started, I find it hard to believe that played a part in this. Especially with over half the team being new guys.

The NBA is not now -- and has never been -- interested in what's good for the NCAA or how the rule affects the tough choices these 18-year-olds have to make. The owners could have simply decided that they wouldn't take chances on high-school kids that might not pan out, but resisting their own temptations proved to be too difficult. The "One Year Rule" has really cemented the top-level college programs as places that serve little more purpose to NBA executives than a minor-league tryout for potential draft picks.

I believe the GPA referenced was pertaining to the fall semester. If I was heading to the NBA to make 100 lifetime's money, I am not so sure I would be focused on Keats and college algebra either. Just sayin............
